✨️INFORMATION✨️ from the Bikeshare Program Manager for SFMTA:
"In its 13th year, bikeshare continues its growth. 2026 trip totals have broken all previous records, reaching ~20K trips during some days in the first quarter of the year. This success has led to a call for more stations to improve service and meet demand.
I’m writing to let you know there’s a proposed bikeshare station at Polk and Clay. The proposed site is in two sections. One on the north side of Clay, west of Polk; and the other on the west side of Polk, north of Clay. Both are in existing red zones. The pictures below show the proposed locations.
While bikeshare has become familiar in San Francisco, the number one complaint for new stations is unsurprisingly parking conversion. Fortunately, these proposed sections are entirely within existing red zones, and they require no additional curb space for station hardware. The proposal would establish a yellow zone in the one metered space north of the Polk section for improved traffic circulation, specifically with consideration for the 19-Polk.
Please share this proposal with your networks. They are welcome to contact me for questions or clarifications. Feedback is welcome whether written, over the phone or in person. If convenient, I am also happy to attend your group’s meeting to present this proposal. We are aiming to bring these to the MTA Public Hearing on Friday, May 22."
