🟢Another Rarest of the RARE!!!
Have you ever caught one of these? If so where?
California Green Sturgeon (Acipenser medirostris)
* The California Green Sturgeon is a protected species. If one is caught, it must remain in the water while the hook is removed and be released immediately.
* Unlike White Sturgeon, Green Sturgeon spend the majority of their lives in the Pacific Ocean, often feeding in coastal marine waters for years before returning to spawn.
* They reproduce in only a handful of rivers, including California’s Klamath and Eel Rivers, and Oregon’s Rogue River.
* Today, Green Sturgeon face ongoing challenges from historic dams that blocked spawning habitat, elevated water temperatures, and water diversion projects that continue to impact river ecosystems.
