We spent the nights on camp grounds along the Highway and enjoyed a last couple of spectacular sights of the Pacific, knowing that our trip would end soon and that we had to hand back the van, our home for three months.

That’s where we tried to get rid of our worst hangovers ever - after new years eve with our new friends. As the bars closed after a while we celebrated on the beach with cheap drinks from a tiny store in a backyard... probably a very stupid idea. Especially after hearing all the stories where home brewers mixed up ethanol and methanol...

Pelmeni, Shashlyk or Pirozhki for breakfast? You can get it all in Mui Ne. Everything is written in Russian, sometimes in Vietnamese too. And if you're lucky, you get an English translation. Most of the waiters in restaurants seem to speak Russian, English speaking staff was hard to find. I guess that says enough about the culture and prices in Mui Ne... but the landscape around the village is spectacular! For example the sand formations with different colors of the sand and dirt. Divers paradise, one more in Indonesia. But one more that really is a paradise. Bunaken island is one of many islands that you can reach through Manado airport, but for divers it is the most interesting one, as it is best equipped and developed for their passion. There are many different resorts on the islands for all budgets.

On the way to Barracuda lake on Coron island:
To be honest, the neighborhood of Coron Backbackers could be nicer. And it could definitely smell better. But then, it's in the middle of the town of Coron, which confusingly is the biggest settlement of island and not on nearby island.

When we realized, that we were about to enter New York City by car I became a bit emotional. No clue why, but somehow I never dared dreaming about that. I don't even know why this should be a big deal for me. I have visited that place twice already...
