🏝️ I love both of Disney Cruise Line’s island destinations, but there are a few things Castaway Cay has going for it that Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point just can’t compete with!

⛱️ 1. Getting to the adults-only beach. At Castaway Cay, the trams can take you almost all the way from the ship to Serenity Bay. At Lookout Cay, you have the long pier, then a tram ride, AND a decent walk to get to the adults-only beach.

🌴 2. The private island experience. Castaway Cay is its own island, while Lookout Cay is part of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. There’s something pretty cool about stepping onto an island that’s dedicated entirely to the Disney Cruise Line experience!

🛳️ 3. Those ship views! Castaway Cay gives you opportunities to admire your ship from all over the island. At Lookout Cay, the ship docks on the opposite side of the island from most of the guest areas, so you don’t get those same views from the beach. (There is an exception for some cabanas at Lookout Cay.)

💦 4. Pelican Plunge. A floating platform with waterslides that send you straight into the ocean? Yes, please! It’s a fun feature for families, and Lookout Cay doesn’t have anything quite like it.

✨ 5. The classic Disney atmosphere. Castaway Cay feels like Disney took a tropical island and sprinkled its signature magic all over it. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point has a beautiful Bahamian identity and a completely different vibe, but Castaway Cay definitely wins for that classic Disney feeling in my book.

🪩 I will NEVER shut up about the silent disco on Disney Cruise Line. NEVER. You could not pay me to skip this on a sailing because it is genuinely one of my favorite cruise experiences, and ending my last cruise with it was just the cherry on top of an already incredible vacation.

🎧 My favorite part is how completely UNINHIBITED everyone gets. You’re in the middle of the dance floor, singing your heart out, dancing like nobody’s watching, and then you take your headphones off for a second and realize EVERYONE around you is doing the exact same thing. People of all ages, all walks of life, just absolutely LIVING THEIR BEST LIVES without a single care in the world. And somehow, seeing it all in complete silence makes it even better.

✨ On the Disney Fantasy a few weeks ago, the silent disco was the VERY LAST activity on the VERY LAST NIGHT, and I genuinely could not think of a better way to close out an exceptional cruise. One last chance to be silly, let loose, make memories, and soak up every last second before heading home. There’s something so special about a room full of people who have collectively decided that, for a little while, we’re all just here to have FUN. I wish I could bottle up that feeling and take it home with me.
