Exciting news for our downtown community! 💙

The Savannah Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) Grant Program is now accepting applications for 2026! This program provides funding to organizations and initiatives that strengthen and enrich life in Savannah, Georgia’s downtown.

Grant funding comes from proceeds of the annual Holiday Tour of Homes & Inns — an event that celebrates the character of our beautiful city while supporting meaningful work throughout downtown.

The program encourages projects that enhance community life, preserve Savannah’s unique charm, and support those who live, work, and serve here. Whether you’re a first-time applicant or have received funding before, you’re encouraged to apply.

Applications are open now through Friday, February 27, 2026 — and early submissions are encouraged!

Each year, DNA is proud to reinvest Tour proceeds into programs that reflect the spirit, creativity, and care that define our neighborhoods. ✨

Holiday Traditions & Experiences of the Enslaved Community at the Davenport House Museum - a property of Historic Savannah Foundation

Friday, December 26, and Saturday, December 27 at 1:00 pm, 2:30 pm, 4:00 pm, and 5:30 pm.

Now in its second year, this powerful program returns to the Davenport House Museum in partnership with Patt Gunn and Underground Tours of Savannah. Featuring the soulful “Saltwata Players,” this special program delves into what Christmas would have been like for the enslaved workers who resided in the home during the 1820s. Through engaging and immersive interpretation, guests will explore holiday traditions expressed through song, dance, foodways, and spirituality.

This unique, thought-provoking tour offers a deeper understanding of the holiday season at the Davenport House, shedding light on the often-overlooked stories of the enslaved community. Join us for an experience that will leave you with a richer, more nuanced perspective on the meaning of the holidays for the downtown urban enslaved community.

We’re getting SO excited to welcome you into Savannah’s beautifully decorated homes and inns! Before you head out for a magical day, here are a few friendly reminders to help us take great care of our wonderful hosts and their historic spaces:

👠 Save your stilettos for another day — delicate wood floors need gentle shoes!
🦽 Homes are not wheelchair accessible (these historic beauties have lots of charming stairs!)
👶 No strollers, please — hallways can be cozy and narrow
🐾 No pets inside the private homes and inns
🚫 No restrooms inside tour locations — Check your guidebook for designated public restroom spots
🎟️ Wristband must be worn to enter all homes, inns, and museums
📵 No photography or video inside any tour locations

Thank you for helping us keep the tour smooth, safe, and full of holiday cheer! 🎁✨

To help us manage arrival flow, please arrive during the time window that matches your Mercer Williams House & Museum tour:

9:00 AM Mercer Tour: Check in between 8:00–8:20 AM

9:30 AM Mercer Tour: Check in between 8:20–8:35 AM

10:00 AM Mercer Tour: Check in between 8:45–9:00 AM

After check-in, the walk to the Mercer Williams House & Museum is less than five minutes. Please plan to arrive at the house 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time so we can assemble your group and prepare for your private entry.

We are delighted to share this unforgettable day with you and look forward to celebrating Savannah’s history, hospitality, and holiday spirit together. 🎄✨
