Backwoods Engineering

Backwoods Engineering Custom Bike Frame Builder Hi, my name is Josh Clark and I build Backwoods Engineering frames.

Riding and racing in various disciplines started for me in 1995, later pro DH racing took precedence. Bikes as a reason to travel excited me early and led to locations all over the American west and east, Alaska, BC, and all over Europe. My other passion has always been building things, which led to engineering school and a decade in industry, largely focusing on machine design. My goal is to spen

d time enough talking and riding with each customer so that I can create a bike which will put them in in the best position for comfort and performance, respond to their inputs flawlessly, and give a peek into their world with a personalized look like no other.

Hello!! We just wanted to say we are alive and well and WED! So that is what we've been up to the past 6mo! Day after the NAHBS, Josh n Shelly got engaged! We built a barn this summer in the Backwoods and tied the knot! We are now building our new home and workshop also in the Backwoods! Backwoods Engineering is not only a bike frame builder, but designer of century style barns, and wielder of an adze and broad axe as well! Please enjoy some photos of the barn and big day and be patient with us as we plan to be back in the frame building business soon!

I talked to Mr Bringheli yesterday about bending forks and such. His method was not exactly like this, but this is working good for me. Oak blocks carved out with a gouge bent this chainstay for the 135mm rear end.

Vance wants a park bike. He's good at backflips and scary stuff. Sturdy is good, but not too heavy.
