As an avid hiker born and raised in Washington State, I have had the unique chance to explore dozens of trails, some of which have taken me pretty far ‘off the beaten path’ and into remote areas. Yet each time I left a trail to explore, I was amazed by what I found: uninterrupted views, spectacular waterfalls and old growth forests around every turn – a part of nature that many people may never a

ctually see. The realization that these natural landscapes were hidden from view moved me to pick up a camera and start documenting my adventures. Once I did, I began to see the world not just though my eyes, but through my camera lens. And I was instantly hooked.

Sometimes I feel like a picture finds it's way to you. I went out searching for a different night, and in the end my last shot was this beautiful photo of the Mukilteo lighthouse with the taking it's midnight run. As I was setting up shots I noticed this huge plane coming in to Paine Field. To me this is such a representation of our state. I love that feeling when you capture more than you ever expected.
