It's a little early for wedding season, but it's coming, and it's worth passing this along. From one failed professional photographer's point of view: It's hard enough to be a wedding photographer and trying to get the perfect shots of moments that will probably never happen again and last mere seconds, without somebody shoving their iPhone into the shot (or their whole freakin' body, as happened at a couple of my shoots... seriously, stood in the middle of the aisle, and wouldn't get out of the way even for THE BRIDE AND GROOM until she got her shot) Why do we pay photographers thousands of dollars? 1) Because it's one less thing we have to worry about doing for ourselves, or simply can't, 2) they use better gear than we have ready access to, so have more options in taking wedding photos than applying the "puppy dog" Snapchat filter to them, and 3) because they're professionals, they've presumably spent at least some time honing their craft, maybe going to school, doing other weddings and learning the ins and outs of the trade, i.e. BECOMING BETTER AT IT THAN YOU ARE WITH YOUR CELL PHONE.
Stay in your seat, enjoy the wedding and GET OUT OF THE FREAKIN" WAY. You're literally wasting the couple's money by interfering with the photographer. Would you sweep a chafing dish off the buffet table to make room for your casserole full of wacky mac because you think your cooking is better than the catering company? (I mean, I don't know, maybe you WOULD, and maybe I'd simply punch you in the mouth) Be honest, here, how many photos have you taken at other people's weddings were worth anything, and how many did you actually share with the couple later?
