Coming across this sweet, funky, little oasis was one of my favorite unexpected moments on Camino this spring. This stand has fresh fruit, hot coffee, and a warm hello from the owner who is an enthusiastic pilgrim herself. You can’t miss it with that adorable pink car but it’s far from the nearest town and not always open. Like so many other special moments along the Camino you have to be walking on the right path at the right time to experience it.

There are a few great Camino guide books that describe this town and that bridge or tell you how far to walk each day and where to stay but the Camino is full of unexpected moments that aren’t in any book. It’s the fellow pilgrims you meet, the musicians, the woman offering free hugs, the personalized stamp for your credential, and so much more that make walking the Camino such a unique and vibrant travel experience.

Walking the Camino is a different way to travel — adventurous, slow, enriching, decidedly un-touristy. If you’re craving more unexpected moments in your life, I invite you to join us on Camino in 2026. www.floraonfoot.com Fresco Tours

This is one of my favorite pictures of me from the Camino this spring because it captures how much fun I was having. I still remember this moment of feeling so strong and accomplished after a hot and hilly 14km walk. I got to the picnic lunch spot and all I could do was smile.

I just sent this picture in a newsletter with a very fun gift. If you're not already on my list, come sign up and get your gift too! Would love for you to join us on Camino in 2026.

Yesterday my family finished our 155km Camino. Feeling so proud and full of gratitude. Also feeling a bit spacey and teary as we rest and adjust. Coming off Camino can be so clunky for me.

You know I love tree tunnels and today we walked through some of my favorites! Every one I was like “you guys look another tree tunnel, isnt this so gorgeous and so cool?!” They humored me.

And shoutout to The Essential Coffee Home for being one of the loveliest places to take a break along Camino Francés — kind and generous owners, tasty treats, clean bathroom, and a cute dog too!

My sweet husband titled this first picture “Camino Professional” 🤣 I made a Day 1 Mistake and forgot to close my water valve… The walk from O Cebreiro to Triacastela is hard — long, steep, challenging. We are feeling accomplished and happy to have it behind us!

Getting Ready for Camino Tip

During the couple of weeks before you leave, put out a laundry basket or storage bin and start adding things you want to bring. That way most of your stuff is in one place when you’re ready to pack.

It’s working well for our family. We’re using one bin per person and we’ve been adding to our bins as we do a load of laundry or buy supplies.

Happy to have my backpack on again! I just wrote about "the Camino that comes after Camino" and why this time is so transformative in my first-ever Flora on Foot newsletter. If you didn't get my newsletter, let me know and I'll forward it to you and then you can add yourself to the list.
