For most couples, the main concern when planning a wedding isn’t just one single thing—it’s a blend of priorities—but surveys and research consistently show that the top worry is staying within budget while still having a meaningful, enjoyable day.

Here are the most common big-picture concerns:
1. Budget & costs – Fear of overspending or unexpected expenses.
2. Guest experience – Making sure friends and family feel comfortable, entertained, and well-fed.
3. Logistics & timing – Avoiding stress from scheduling mishaps or last-minute changes.
4. Weather – Especially for outdoor ceremonies or photo sessions.
5. Personal meaning – Ensuring the ceremony and details reflect the couple’s personalities and values.
6. Vendor reliability – Worrying whether everyone will show up and deliver what was promised.

The number one consideration when couples are planning a wedding should be aligning on shared priorities and expectations.

Before choosing venues, guest lists, or color palettes, the most important thing is that both partners are on the same page about what matters most in the wedding — and why. This will help prevent future conflict, keep planning focused and meaningful, help with budgeting and decision-making and strenghen communication in the relationship.

Key questions you should discuss first are
1. What kind of experience do we want to create? (Intimate? Big celebration? Cultural traditions?)
2. What’s our budget—and who’s contributing?
3. What are our non-negotiables? (e.g., specific guests, religious elements, venue type)
4. What does this day mean to each of us?

Once those foundational values are clear, the rest of the planning (venue, guest list, vendors, etc.) becomes easier and more intentional.

Writing your own wedding vows can be one of the most meaningful (and nerve-wracking) parts of your ceremony—but it’s also a chance to speak from the heart and make your promises truly personal. Here’s a simple vow outline to follow:
1. Start with a memory or personal story “I knew I loved you when…”
2. Talk about what you love about them
“You’re the most patient, kind, and wildly stubborn person I know…”
3. Make your promises
“I promise to support your dreams, laugh with you, and always let you have the last slice of pizza.”
4. End with your final commitment
“I choose you today and every day for the rest of my life.”
Agree with your partner on length and tone ahead of time but 1 to 2 minutes is the best length.

The best bar setup for a wedding depends on your budget, guest experience goals, and overall vibe you want to create. If you’re on a tight budget go with beer & wine only or specialty cocktails + beer & wine. It feels generous but not extravagant.
If you are having a crowd you know expects to drink avoid a dry or cash bar unless you have a strong reason to do so. Cash bars ate often perceived as tacky If you want something unique but manageable: Signature drinks can be a stylish middle ground.

Tip: You can also do an open bar for cocktail hour and dinner, then close it or switch to beer/wine only after to save money.

I’m a wedding officiant with a passion for helping couples create meaningful, personalized ceremonies that reflect their unique love stories. When I’m not guiding couples through one of the most important moments of their lives, I’m cherishing my own love story—celebrating 20 years of marriage with the love of my life. We marked the milestone with a special getaway to The Inn at Honey Run, a peaceful retreat that reflects the beauty and balance we’ve built together over the years.

Picking the right song to walk down the aisle to can be a bit of a challenge. Here are a few tips to consider when choosing your aisle song.

Venue acoustics matter so is your wedding ceremony outdoors or indoors? This will change how your music sounds.

What is the length of the aisle? Choose a song that builds at the right moment.

Are you having a musician or recording? Live versions bring extra emotion.

Consider instrumentals if you don’t want lyrics to distract from the moment.

Do you have children you would like to include in your wedding ceremony? Here are some ideas for you to consider.
During the Ceremony: have a family unity ritual—a sand ceremony, lighting of candles, or handfasting—symbolize blending families.
Vows to the Children: Write a few lines to say to your children or stepchildren, promising your love and commitment to them too.
Child Escort—A child can es**rt a parent down the aisle (especially sweet if it’s your own child or stepchild).
