HAWAII, What We Loved
I planned this 10-day Hawaii trip with the grandparents hoping for the best of both worlds — incredible experiences and adventures, but also plenty of slow beach days, pool time and time together as a family.
It ended up being exactly that.
A few highlights:
• Pearl Harbor — USS Arizona Memorial + USS Missouri
• Kualoa Ranch for our Jurassic Park-loving kid
• Molokini Crater snorkeling
• Manta ray night snorkeling
• Kohala waterfalls
• Sailing + snorkeling along the Kona Coast
• Lava-formed tide pools
• King’s Pond at Four Seasons Hualālai
• And lots of beach, pool + great meals in between
And one thing became very clear: where you stay can completely change the feel of the trip.
OʻAHU
• Halekulani — elegant Waikīkī; perfect for couples + city lovers
• Four Seasons Ko Olina — families, calm lagoon + true resort luxury
• St. Regis Turtle Bay — active travelers + North Shore lovers
MAUI
• Four Seasons Maui — polished, buzzy + service-driven
• Fairmont Kea Lani — families who want suites + more space
• Grand Wailea — pools, waterslides + family fun
THE BIG ISLAND — MY FAVORITE 🌋
• Four Seasons Hualālai — families, golfers + the complete luxury resort experience
• Kona Village — privacy, understated luxury + a strong sense of place
• Mauna Lani — stylish, relaxed + active
Three islands, three completely different versions of Hawaii — and somehow I left feeling like we had only scratched the surface.
Already planning the next one: Four Seasons Lanai + 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay on Kauaʻi. 🌺
