Behind the scenes moment here. Have you ever wondered why some short-term rentals have a crazy list of rules? When we started hosting I was really surprised at the things that we had to call out. Things like "don't move the furniture" after having folks who decided to redecorate, leaving us to move heavy mid-century furniture back to the original rooms and places it belonged. We soon added "don't hang decorations on the walls" as guests would tape things to our ceilings and walls, often causing paint damage. We're not sure which set of guests ran tacking nails along our elevated post and beam ceilings, but we have our suspicions (based on the trash left behind). As I told the resident handyman who had to remove 8 nails while standing on a step ladder today, I don't feel like this is the kind of thing we need to tell people not to do. Thanks to the 99% of superguests who treat our place with love and care. If you're considering nailing your decorations to the vintage woodwork in someone else's home, please do better.
