You never quite know what’s going to happen when a group of locals books the Big Green Party Machine… 😂

Last night, we were presented with an idea.

We ran with it.

Apparently that included the driver.

What followed was a rainy, misty cruise around Sitka filled with costumes, karaoke, dancing, a lot of laughs, and one of those nights that just kept getting more ridiculous as it went.

Proof that you absolutely do not need sunshine to have a good time in Sitka. 🟢🎤🌧️🦈

Thanks for reminding us that locals nights might just be our favorite kind of chaos.

Apparently working at High Output isn’t enough cardio. 😂

From Sitka Bike & Hike to High Output Tours. 🚲🌲

A lot has changed since our little bike tour company first started rolling around Sitka.

We’ve added hiking, snorkeling, food tours, the Pedal Pub, remote adventures and more than a few ambitious ideas along the way.

But the bikes never left.

Today, we’re excited to share that the League of American Bicyclists has recognized High Output Tours as a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business. 🥈

Bikes have been part of our DNA from the beginning, and they’re still a huge part of how we love showing people Sitka. Whether we’re riding through the Tongass, introducing someone to an e-bike, pedaling around town or figuring out the next unlikely place we can get a bicycle to, two wheels continue to open up some pretty incredible ways to explore.

For us, this award represents more than offering bike tours. It reflects something that has been part of High Output since day one: helping people get outside, explore under their own power and experience Sitka a little differently.

We’ve come a long way since Sitka Bike & Hike.

Apparently we’ve pedaled most of it. 🚲

A few days ago, Walter led this adventurous crew up Harbor Mountain Ridge for a Guide’s Choice Hike, and Sitka absolutely showed off. 🥾⛰️

Wildflowers, alpine views, dramatic clouds, sunshine, and sweeping scenes across the islands made every step worth it. That is the magic of Guide’s Choice: no two hikes are exactly alike, and our guides select the trail that best fits the group, conditions, and the kind of adventure the day is calling for.

A big thank-you to this crew for climbing high and taking it all in with us!

Being an outdoor guide is about more than leading hikes. It’s about being a steward of the places we call home.

That’s exactly who Sophia is.

While she’s out introducing guests to the incredible beauty of the Tongass, she almost always finds time to fill a bag with litter left behind by others. No one asks her to. She does it because she genuinely cares about this place.

Every bottle, wrapper, and forgotten piece of trash picked up is one less thing for wildlife to encounter and one more step toward preserving these trails for everyone who comes after us.

At High Output Tours, we believe sharing Sitka also means caring for Sitka. We have the privilege of introducing thousands of people each year to this incredible corner of Alaska, and with that comes the responsibility to help protect it.

Thank you, Sophia, for leading by example and reminding us that conservation isn’t just something we talk about. It’s something we do.

The next time you’re out on the trail, consider picking up one piece of trash that isn’t yours. It may seem like a small act, but together those small acts keep the Tongass every bit as wild and beautiful as we found it. 🌲💚
