Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, arrived at its new homeport in Port Canaveral on Saturday and begins sailing Aug. 16.

The 250,800-ton vessel has 20 decks, seven pools, six waterslides, 40+ dining and drinking venues, and space for over 7,000 passengers plus 2,350 crew.

Port Canaveral, now home to both Star of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas, is the world’s second-busiest cruise terminal after Miami. Officials say bigger ships drive double-digit growth, with many passengers treating the ships themselves as the destination.
