Cape cod fishing in in full swing right now. Reserve your day on the water now. The stripers are chewing; Monomoy rips make it really for for people throwing soft plastics and poppers. We had a rookie on board the other day, so we gave him a rod with a 12” sluggo on a jig head….”bounce this off of the bottom “. It’s a simple way to get used to the gear….and used to fighting fish without me resorting to trolling (which I don’t do for stripers)

The 7’6” “blue rods” from Okuma (SRT Inshore Elite) are so perfect for this fishery. Look at the controlled bend. Perfect. Yesterday we had a monster bass reeled in by a young girl in a few minutes. It was an awesome battle. We are still getting lots of slot fish, but some really big ones as well. It’s a fun numbers game now of constant action.

Throw in some nice Black Sea bass; some pie plate scup (porgy) and it’s a complete day.

Our striper trips are 6 or 8 hours; ($850 or $1100 for 1-4 people).

Porgy trips are $650 for 4.5 hours or $850 for 6 hours(more time to target Black Sea bass in different areas)

Fluke trips are scheduling now, $1,100, or $1,300, depending on how far we go. (Up to 25 miles/25-40 miles). These are some of my favorite fishing experiences. We have amazing action with high expectations for big fish at any time. And did i say lots of action? There is very little boredom on these trips. No long waits for a bite. It reminds me of being a kid again!

We kids fighting sharks all summer. Why not? It’s a great way to fight big fish and not worry about losing it. (We release most of them anyways). No pressure fishing and usually the action is fantastic. Last year we heard “no mas” several times by exhausted crews. They were tired of reeling in sharks. Physically worn out. I love those numbers games!

Richie has a very sweet ride. For the fly fisherman, it’s perfect. Same with the light tackle crowd. It’s easy to stay on the fish on the shallows of Plymouth Bay

Warning: Old timey story with current meaning coming! This old man was fishing with his grandson and he saw a school of stripers on the surface. “Papa, drive over there really fast! I want to catch a striper!” The old man replied “yes, if you drive over there really fast you will catch a striper.” But then he added “if you drive over there slowly you will catch them all day”.

I’m back home from Chatham….guess who I’m “talking” about? The bite was so much fun today with perfect sea conditions. And good
Black Sea bass to boot. We made a great batch of ceviche to have for lunch, ready after our striper fishing.

Like I said, he learned from a pretty good captain. Light tackle casting Plymouth Bay and beyond. Give Richie a shot

Wind is looking better than I last checked for Friday and I have an opening. Great day to cruise the bay and get on some big bass that are chewing good.
Topwater action and light tackle for some pigs in cape cod bay. 1-2 people this is an ideal day.

Oh what a day today was. I didn’t have a trip til 8:00 last night, but it ended up being a doozy. The weather was perfect. The company was fantastic. The bite spoke for itself. We had the biggest porgy consistently biting til we hit our limit. It was silly fishing. Sea bass are getting better and better.

The weather tomorrow is going to be fantastic. I don’t have anything on the schedule, so you have 3.5 hours to make a decision! I’ll be in bed at 9.

I wish I could say the weather going forward looks good, but again, I am not sure. Tomorrow? Fantastic. I have a pretty good looking calendar this summer; when I start posting pics of stripers and sharks, it’ll fill in quickly. Call or text for reservation questions

It’s been a fun spring when I have been able to get out there with the winds. Squid season was very similar to last year. I was able to get two trips daily on most days. We had solid action on most trips “better than what I expected for daytime fishing”….

We had a short gap between our squid season and porgy season (our fundraiser for LGMD2D). Porgy is the type of fishing “if you like it, you love it”. I’ve had a blast watching guys giggle and laugh like middle schoolers. Throw in some Black Sea bass (or a boat limit, now that the bigger ones moved in).

Throw a few fluke in there, a striper here and there, maybe you like sea robins? Tog are an option….its good fishing for the “sit down and drop a line” crowd.

Monday starts my “let’s do some of the most fun recreational fishing” for the “casting” crowd: striper fishing. I love handing the customer a spinning rod and saying “Now fish. You’ll feel like a kid again fishing for bass….except these are 25-45” stripers, not 2 # pond bass!”

I took a little time off of social media; sorry. I’ll do better this summer! I have a handful of days available both next week and the week after that. Same with July and August…. See you soon.

Happiness is finding crazy numbers of porgy on weed-free waters with little current. It was awesome at first today, then the current cranked and weeds ruined the fun. I knew that they have moved around; we found silly numbers that even overwhelmed the Black Sea bass. That bite will be getting better and better , even though those numbers are crazy.

Nasty day tomorrow; room on Monday if you’re interested…fishing out of bass River in south Yarmouth.

It’s time to figure out when you want to go shark fishing! We start in July for sharks; now we are fishing for porgies(scup), stripers, fluke soon….
