One of the reasons I love this job so much is because I’ve seen firsthand how many unforgettable moments are born through travel. I have so many of those memories tucked into my heart—and I know how quickly time moves. It’s a thief.

I just have to share a little local scoop about Delectable Delights, a small Florida ice cream spot with four locations—Winter Haven, Lutz, Dade City, and Trinity. They bring their homemade, delicious ice cream all the way from Wisconsin, and it’s seriously good.

Normally, I lean toward locally made ice cream shops, but this one is close to the top of my list. Their Black Cherry ice cream is out of this world—creamy, refreshing, and just perfect in the summer heat. Another standout for me is their Fat Elvis, a banana-based ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate swirls that’s absolutely delicious.

They also have some fantastic chocolate options. Aside from their milk chocolate and brownie version, they offer a darker chocolate ice cream made with three different kinds of chocolate. If you love dark chocolate, this one is a must-try—it’s almost silky in texture. And, fun fact: it pairs beautifully with the Fat Elvis if you want to get adventurous.

What makes the shop charming, apart from the ice cream, is their selection of old-fashioned candies, like candy necklaces and salt water taffy, where you get to pick your flavors. And they have Jelly Cats!!! (Do you love those stuffed animals as much as I do? I am looking for a special one for my niece - she loved the one I sent her last year! Open to your suggestions! She is going to be 3)

For anyone local or flying into Florida this month, they have a July weekend special—five scoops for $10. I won't lie, we may have taken advantage of this deal twice already this month.

Hidden Gem Alert: Biscayne National Park, Florida

If you’re dreaming of somewhere peaceful, stunning, and totally unexpected—let me introduce you to Biscayne National Park.

Just an hour south of Miami, this park is 95% underwater. Yep—you read that right! Instead of hiking boots, you’ll want snorkels, kayaks, and boat shoes. Think coral reefs, shipwrecks, crystal-clear water, and the kind of stillness that only comes when you're floating through mangroves with nothing but nature all around you.

You can snorkel through the Maritime Heritage Trail, paddle alongside dolphins, or even take a glass-bottom boat tour if you’re keeping things dry. It’s one of the least visited national parks—but one of the most beautiful.

This is Florida, but not the Florida most people know.
