Spotting dolphins is always a moment 💦🐬

We don’t chase, we don’t follow them, we just slow down, give them space + let them do their dolohin thing 🐬 Most of the time they’re hunting, like they are in this reel and the best encounters happen when we don’t change that, we stay so far away they don’t even know we are here!

When a manatee is swimming by we stop paddling and lift our paddles out of the water to give them a clear path. It keeps things calm, avoids accidental contact, and lets the manatee keep doing what they were already doing which is usually resting, feeding or in this case traveling!

Three dolphins cruised right by our clear kayaks, surfacing just long enough for everyone to catch a glimpse before gliding off together!

Dolphins often travel in groups called pods, working together to hunt fish. We’ve been seeing this mom and her calf for two years and today she’s brought a friend!
