I've spent almost the entire day inside Trans-Allegheny—first learning its history, then hearing its paranormal stories, and finally coming back after dark.

What a wild ride it has been and I thank all staff for making today memorable for us.

We went through the supposedly haunted Paw Paw Tunnel tonight.

The tunnel is 3,118 feet long and was constructed from 1836–1850.

Construction was plagued by difficult geology, labor conflict, violence, funding problems and work stoppages.

And there's actual folklore: local accounts describe reported paranormal activity around the tunnel and the story of a lockkeeper whose spirit is said to remain nearby.

We saw three glowing orbs in the water that disappeared when we walked away.

Was that proof of a spirit or was it an illusion created by our lights?

Either way, the tunnel had an eerie feeling about it.

Some buildings don't need to be abandoned to have layers of history.

Today's spooky stop was a 1920 building in Essex that served as a Fire/Police Station and courthouse before becoming home to the Essex & Middle River Heritage Society Museum.

And yes—the museum has a Paranormal Room. 👻

I only explored the exterior tonight, but I'm adding the museum to my future local-history list.

Some towns have history. Westminster has stories people still tell after dark.

Westminster Maryland has a Ghost Walk takes visitors through approximately 1.5 miles of the town to hear local ghosts and legends.

8 different stops at historic buildings, who's stories will leave you with chills.

The Lighthouse That Saw A War!

The Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace, Maryland was connected to the Revolutionary War by it's Keeper, John O'Neill.

Although, the structure is not reported to be haunted, the history haunts the structure much more than any ghost ever could!

I spent the last five days going from Front Royal to Gatlinburg and it was fantastic!

Those five days I went to different spooky spots along the way:

1. Prospect Hill Cemetery - Located in Front Royal, VA. This cemetery has been operating for over 200 years and served as a military observation point during the Civil War.

2. The Lost Sea - Located in Sweetwater, TN. The largest underground lake is home to a bottomless hole that is said to show you the devil's face if you have been naughty.

3. Shepard's Inn - Located in Dandridge, TN. This historic building was built in 1820 as a log cabin and residence/general store. It has gone through many transitions and still stands as one of the oldest buildings in Dandridge.

4. Deep Creek Area of Great Smoky Mountain National Park - This area is located in Cherokee, NC. It is said that Spearfinger wanders this location of the park and may be attributed to some unexplained disappearances in the park.

5. White Oak Flats Cemetery - Located in Gatlinburg, TN. It is the town's oldest burial ground, established in 1830 and is said to have many spirits wandering it's grounds at night.
