A poultice is a term I learned from reading about Edgar Casey and his hypnotic healing sessions where many were instructed to make a poultice for several ailments.
After looking up several options safe for dogs I chose to use one that is calming, anti-inflammatory, and decrease cancer cells.
I have gotten several fresh ingredients like onion, garlic, turmeric, and will be using coconut oil as a carrier oil. Other essential oils used are lemongrass, lavender, rosemary, cedarwood, and peppermint.
Not only will the oils help with the emulsification of the poultice or salve and help the body heal, these ones are also a great natural bug repellent!
For the home I have mixed a 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar and about 2 cc of lavender and rosemary oil as a spray to ward off flies, ants, roaches, etc. Plus it helps as an air freshener!
Below you'll see a picture of the newest manifestations that has grown externally on Marlo and also the fatty tumor and mast cell growth on Bleu. We have dressed and covered the wound on Marlo especially now that it has opened up a bit. Pictures will be shown as the poultice has been used several times over the next days. If this is too graphic for you, then please move along.
I am not a veterinarian but I am a pet parent wanting to use more natural, less invasive, and budget friendly options. If you see where I can improve on solutions that do not involve surgery, great! If you want to be in the sidelines and learn with me, great! If you don't want in the arena and want to troll with negative comments, then move along.
To make this poultice the onion will be sautéed in coconut oil. The garlic, turmeric, and ginger will be chopped and ground with a mortar and pestel then added to the sautéed onion and heat on low. Once the mix has cooled, only a few drops of each of the oils will be added and mixed. Coconut oil will be added as needed but the consistency should be more like a paste.
This will then be placed on the wound/fatty tumor with a dressing made from old tshirts and held in place for 1 hour with a velcro dressing wrap. This will be done at least 2x /day.
