Status: Open for travel with restrictions. Only the Dutch side of the island is open for American travelers.

COVID-19 test: Travelers are required to submit negative results from a PCR test taking within 72 hours prior to departure. Children ages 10 and younger are exempt.

Other entry requirements: Travelers must complete an online Health Declaration Form. Temperature checks are conducted at the airport, and face masks are required there.

Dominican Republic is open for travel!

COVID-19 test: Travelers aged 5 and older must show proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than 5 days before arrival. Travelers who test positive or show symptoms will be isolated at authorized locations. Starting at the end of September, rapid tests will be performed on randomly selected travelers upon arrival, such as the diagnostic breath test for COVID-19. Once this measure is in place, the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival will be eliminated. However, it continues to be valid until then.
Other entry requirements: Health evaluations may be conducted upon arrival, social distancing, and face masks are required at the airport. All travelers visiting a hotel will be granted, on a temporary basis, a travel assistance plan (Travel Insurance) that will include coverage for emergencies, telemedicine, lodging for prolonged stays, and costs for changing flights in the event of an infection. This insurance will be provided at no cost to the visitor until December 2020 and will be 100% paid for by the Dominican Government.
