Small Business Saturday is a good reminder that what you see online is only a small part of what actually goes into running a business like mine.

On top of being a professional travel planner, I’ve also had to learn an entirely different skill set along the way—social media strategy, blogging, SEO, TikTok, how algorithms actually work, and how to use AI as a tool instead of something to fear.

I’ve learned how to manage accounts, payables and receivables, how to show up at vendor fairs and represent my business, how to negotiate pricing, and how to build systems that actually support my clients instead of overwhelming them.

I’ve learned what a CRM is, how to use it effectively, and how it directly improves my clients’ experience from the first inquiry to the moment they return home.

And the truth is—I’m still learning. Still growing. Still figuring things out as I go.

This business has challenged me in ways I never expected, but it’s also pushed me to become more resourceful, more knowledgeable, and more confident in what I offer.

Because being a travel advisor isn’t just about planning trips.
It’s about running a full business behind the scenes so the experience for my clients feels seamless, supported, and easy.
