It’s a Sports Summer

This summer started off all about sports.

I have to first acknowledge the New York Knicks on winning the championship.

Lowkey I jumped on the bandwagon for the Knicks during the finals. I love New York and I couldn’t be happier for Knicks and fans. The team hadn’t had a title since the 1970s……literally before I was born! That’s generations of waiting for this moment.

I’ve been enjoying watching all of the celebrations online. The energy in New York is unmatched right now …..the orange and blue is everywhere.

We also got FIFA going on. Whether you call it soccer or futball, you can’t escape it…..it’s everywhere. FIFA is global so we get to see many countries represented across the world. Watching the passion, pride, and excitement from the fans is really cool to see.

A special shout-out to Haiti for even qualifying. Im definitely rooting for them . As a country that faces so many challenges and hardships…..this one was well deserved and needs to be represented on this global platform.

I like seeing countries come together through sports, celebrating their cultures and competing at the highest level.

Whether you were watching basketball, or currently watching soccer….one thing for sure, it’s officially a sports summer, and I’m here for all of it.

It’s officially summer!

And I’m activated 🤸🏾‍♂️🧘🏾‍♀️⚽️🎼🎤🎨🎬🧩🎟️🏊🏾‍♂️

Since the days are longer, might as well enjoy it. I’m chasing sunsets, getting in the water, making my way downtown, enjoying FREE events, eating real good, etc.

All while minding my business, slathering on my sunscreen, staying hydrated and enjoying the summer😊

Happy Father's Day!

While making my way downtown, I came across this mural/art piece. I could feel the connection and relationship between them.

As a daughter that loves her father, I have to be honest about the absence or lack of things I needed most from him..... like attention, guidance, support, protection, reassurance.

Looking at this little girl makes me smile, because it looks like she's getting all of it.

"Daddy Issues" today I’m thinking about the woman and young girls who had to or is navigating life without the support they deserve.

By the way, I give plenty of grace, understanding and forgiveness to the fathers that didn't or don't step up for their kids intentionally or unintentionally….

Even with that, it doesn't erase or stop the impact... however it does make it easier for healing.

I have admiration for the fathers who do show up for their kids and step up for the kids that don't have that support.

A Father's presence is needed.

Happy Juneteenth!

June 19, 1865, marks the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth has been celebrated in Black communities for generations specifically in Texas, it has recently became a federal holiday in 2021 when President Biden signed it into law.
********Update*******
I’ve mentioned that *Rump was trying to take the holiday back from us……technically he cannot take the day away, however he made his administration remove Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day from the list of fee-free admission days at national parks.

We still celebrating BIG at regular parks, in front/backyards, block parties etc.

The Juneteenth celebration’s will continue

And let’s support Black Business too.

Kimchi Mart

One thing that caught my attention was the live seafood section. They had tanks filled with fish, crabs, and lobsters.
My first time seeing fish lying completely flat, not gone hold you, that was weird.
It’s interesting for me to walk through and see the different things/ ingredients that people use in Asian cooking here in local stores.

Kimchi Mart aka Asian Market

I ate up all my Japanese snacks and was in need of a restock.
I stumbled upon Kimchi Mart, which is a bit refreshing, because other Asian stores near me are very outdated and some of those stores carry a stench.

Kimchi Mart is clean, organized, and well-ran, it’s like a regular grocery store….. very easy to browse.

One thing I liked about this store was the food stalls inside. If you get hungry while shopping, that’s a great convenience.
By the way, they have some of the best Korean chicken wings I’ve had in a long time. Crispy, flavorful, and worth the trip alone.

I was on a mission for matcha and Japanese snacks. I’m looking for a matcha that is from Japan, ceremonial grade and organic. The snacks…..I did notice it was a limited selection as far as snacks I prefer and limited flavors.

Resort Pass

Memorial Day weekend, I was in the sunshine, using a resort pass at luxury hotel on South Beach.

Choosing hotels on resort pass with access to both the pool and the beach is the perfect!

The weather was beautiful, and the Miami Beach Air show was happening too. I was situated in a great spot, was able to just look up and see the action in the sky, not gone hold you…..it was really loud at times, but great show.

Anywho, I spent the day going back and forth between the pool and the beach.

Comfortable chairs, beach access, pools, food& drinks service, sunshine…everything I wanted.

I will say, I didn’t like the food at this hotel, the menu was limited and not the best options. Technically your not suppose to bring in food and drink, however I did see other people sneak there’s in. Will definitely consider that next time.

I like the outdoor shower area too and amenities. No live DJ here, which made sense because we would’ve barley heard it over the planes. They did have Tech House music playlist going on….. I had my earbuds, I enjoyed my own playlist 🤷🏾‍♀️

Matcha Morning 🍵

Ever since experiencing matcha in Japan, I’m officially a self-proclaimed certified matcha enthusiast. With that being said, y’all can trust me with my ratings.

This morning’s matcha was ok, the shop was nice and great service made for better experience. However just on matcha it’s a 7/10
