Last month was Caribbean Heritage Month and I attended the Goombay Festival down in Miami

Question: What is Goombay?
Answer: Annual festival held in Bahamas to promote Bahamian Culture

It is also celebrated here locally in Miami (where Bahamians came and settled, also and..... I just found out it's celebrated in Key West as well which is a lil south of Miami. Both have a 2-day festival.

Y'all already know I was here for the Bahamian Food; I love Bahamian food when it's fresh!

I went on the Sunday, because Ball Greezy was performing that day. Y'all know I like him a lot and been jamming to his music on my summer playlist.

This day was super-hot down in Coconut Grove, by the way part of Coconut Grove is known as "Little Bahamas." I was sweating in places I never knew I could sweat; I got my summer tan involuntarily, but it was so worth it. A great experience, a time was had!

I am very particular when it comes Bahamian food because I had multiple bad experiences here in Fort Lauderdale. However, there is so many Bahamian food options in Miami.

With events like this, I just patronize booths that are made to order or making it right in front of me. The conch salad man that was making it fresh in front of us, just like they do in the Bahamas, the line was way too long. However, we found someone making her conch fritters on made per order basis and got conch fritters with her. Listen, this was no full of batter fritter either, it was full of conch, hot and fresh 10/10 wish I would've got her info.

Enjoyed an icey......I'll give it a 5/10, y'all know I prefer real Italian Ices soo there's that. And not my icey being UM (University of Miami) colors.

The Junkanoo was awesome as well as the parade, they had great Djs from local radio stations to entertain until Ball Greezy hit the stage. Ball Greezy did an awesome job representing the 305.

Lowkey this was a good way to experience Bahamas without the actual travel and cost. Did I mention it's a FREE event?

I regret not getting Goombay Punch, conch salad and rum cake......until next time.

Welcome to July!
Ok, ok,ok we are literally in the summer of ‘25

There’s so much heaviness in our country and or around us personally. The heaviness in the country under the orange regime is what I’m referring to, like political situations affecting immigration, the economy affecting housing and grocery’s, the tariffs.

Girl, I guess no more Temu for me…. Not me girl I’m not paying them tariffs.

Y’all it’s a lot going on seriously. Please don’t ignore or look the other way, today it’s them and tomorrow could be you or someone you know. Let’s continue to pray for our country and try to help/ support others. God we put July in your hands, have your way Lord.

Anyway, by the grace of God, we are still here surviving or thriving!

And it’s still summer, we have to look on the brighter side. I’m trying to find peace in everything so I can live in the moments.

Lunchtime
I’ve mentioned here before that I’m trying to eat more Mediterranean this summer. It’s going pretty good so far.

P.S. I was smelling throw up, it was not the food. I’ma assume it was probably in the sitting area.
One thing God gave me was a strong nose, it picks up everything even unintentionally.

The bowl was ok, it taste healthy and I realized in that moment I don’t like shredded lamb. Lamb chops, gyro or lamb kabob me only, please and thank you.

Happy Sunday!
I really don’t know where to start, as far as sharing what I’ve been up to lately. I’m still in do not disturb mode, but I need to start sharing, cause my phone storage is full.

I have no choice…..either share or start to delete.

Anyway, God is truly good, actually amazing! I have to give him the honor and the glory he deserves. In these hard times he is protecting me, keeping me, providing for me and making ways. I can’t complain, not me girl.

S.N. I was visiting a city that has this cute little chapel. I stopped in and this happened. I know the camera angle was horrible, but I’m still cute. Pull up on me in real life (IRL) there’s that!

Good morning!
Just want to share that, I’ve officially joined the Matcha Team

I’ve had matcha multiple times and it just never clicked for me. I guess my taste is still evolving, most importantly I’m a tea lover. This was bound to happen

This Lululemon inspired one was not it though…..or maybe it is? I actually think it wasn’t made correctly, cause. It was giving matcha with a side of chai. When it was described as chai with shot of matcha. The girls just didn’t get it right that day. They was to busy in there chit chatting it up and messing up people orders. Did I mentioned I had to send it back once already because they didn’t add the matcha at all the first time. I paid for that matcha shot so I’m going to get it!

Anywho Matcha is up and it’s stuck with me, officially matcha girly now. Are you into Matcha too?

Lowkey realizing because of chai tea, matcha and milk teas that I’m getting my milk in more often. Not sure how much nutritional value it’s worth, but I’m drinking/consuming almond milk regularly.

Summer Freebies

Hopefully you are enjoying freebies.

There's a lot going on and I'm trying to catch as much as I can.

Here's a few examples of what I've seen. Unfortunately, some of them, I missed because I was not in town and or working.

Also, I am a reward member for a few restaurants and have been enjoying their personal freebies on their apps. I've gotten free subs and burgers etc.
In this economy and with over saturated options/spaces. Restaurants are literally at the mercy of their customers. I urge you to sign up where you frequent.......look at it this way, your continuing to patronize them regardless, so why not enjoy some perks.

I just got a $9 burger for $1 ...cause who paying full price, when I don't have too....not me girl

P.S. be on the lookout for those ice cream specials next month. I'll try to share and drop some here...no promises though.

Anywho!

These lychees are so good! I love me some me Trader Joe’s….cause who else gone have them for $3.49.

I’m into Kale Salads this summer, more on that later.

Of course I went sniffing around and more Tomato Scented candles. The Strawberry one was really good too and so was this fruit bowl one.

Y’all know I’m in my wild era and I keep running into this dress. I love it, however I don’t need anything right now. If it’s meant to be …..it will go on sale and you know how girl math goes….

I’m also into Matcha now too. Stay tuned more
on that later. This was a strawberry one.

I love me some exotic fruit, not me finding out Publix carrying real passion fruit. Did y’all know?

I’m a bit obsessed with the Cava Hot Harissa Pita. Have you tried it yet. I say obsess because I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s limited time, get into before it’s gone.

Saltwater Taffy, I use to like this as a kid. Recently when visiting Jersey, I discovered on the Jersey Shore that they are known for saltwater taffy. Again thank you Trader Joe’s, cause this was a better deal.

Passion Fruit ice cream, I really appreciate this one too. However, to me it is more tart than sweet, Trader Joe’s need to redo this one. I would suggest mixing it with a sweet or creamy one. A good vanilla ice cream would work, just a scoop of each.

Not sure if you’re familiar with summer scents that mix sunscreen as part of fragrance. I happen to like a faint smell of sunscreen during summer. Finery did a good job, it smells like summer in a bottle.

I saw these Patriotic Hats after Memorial Day, I say they cute and a good look for this Cowboy Summer we’re having. I would definitely rock for the 4th of July

Again Trader Joe’s, lowkey my favorite grocery store at the moment. They came through with the viral Dubai Chocolate Dupe! I haven’t had the original from Dubai but I have a good idea what it taste like now.

Happy Birthday Kendrick!

Was listening to the radio this morning and heard it was his birthday.

You should already know by now, I love me some Kendrick.

He is currently on tour with Sza, everyone keeps talking about his show and saying it’s really good. I am so happy for him, he deserves.
Lowkey, I am not a fan of Sza, but I have to admit, they made beautiful music together.

Enjoy his music today, I definitely will.

Happy Father’s Day!

Shout out to all Dads that are doing it and doing it well. Being a provider, protector and guiding your kids through life isn’t something we take for granted.
I know y’all don’t get celebrated as much as mothers, but your truly appreciated.
Your presence sets the tone, help builds confidence, provides reassurance and your love means everything!

I personally love to see Dads love on their daughters, it brings me so much joy!

An example of the love our Father in heaven has for all of us. And if tou are without your dad or your kids without their dads, know that God is a father to the fatherless.

Sorry for the dead air, I was trying to listen to the commercial for the Goombay Festival.
Goombay is a celebration of Bahamian Culture, by the way we are in Caribbean Heritage Month 🇧🇸

I did end up going one day to the festival, stay tuned can’t wait to share.
