Lately we've been shutting off the motor and paddling quietly through tidal wetlands only accessible at high tide.

So far, we'e 2 for 2 on bear sightings. 🐻

This week's encounter was a massive grizzly that entered the same narrow waterway we were exploring—the water was only a few feet deep! Seeing an animal that massive so close was an absolute adrenaline rush.

These are the moments we'll never forget.

For those cruising in SE Alaska this year.
Sharing intel on the entrance to Meyers Chuck that we received from a local resident last week.

This is an excerpt from correspondence with the Coast Guard.

”Good Morning……..This is ###x, a summer resident of Meyers Chuck Alaska. For the last 10 years we have been trying to get the USCG to replace/install a hazard marker on the rock / entrance to the Chuck. Each year 1-3 boats hit the rock and we would like to fix this situation.”

Preferred entry is high slack.
