If you’re on a ledge on a multi-pitch climb and are planning to lead the next pitch, the pancake flip is a great way to save time and make your transitions more efficient.

Happy Monday! IFMGA Guide Connor Chilcott with a tech tip on how to stack your rope for smooth multi-pitch transitions. 🧗

– If you’re leading the next pitch, stack the rope in large coils to smaller coils.
– If you’re swapping leads and your partner is leading next, do the opposite: small coils to larger coils.

Stacking the rope in the right order helps it feed smoothly when the next climber takes off without turning your belay transition into a tangled mess.

Day 16: GroBer Priel summit 13/13 for our trip. What a way to finish the trip off with 13 miles and 5600 feet of gain. Great job John, glad we could make it happen! What a wild experience piecing this project together. Watching the incoming weather and maneuvering around the storms definitely required flexibility and careful planning. We ended up getting all of our summits even though the weather added some significant drive times! Till next year John, congratulations!
