High confidence for another round of active weather late this week, specifically impacting Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Locations across northern MN and NW WI should prepare for heavy snow and very strong winds. We are also tracking a weekend system that could bring a round of heavy snow to southern portions of the Northland Saturday night and Sunday depending on exactly how that system tracks. Monitor the forecast for the latest updates.

An active winter weather pattern is in store for this week with several wintry systems and accumulating snow expected this week. Several inches of snow possible Monday night through Wednesday morning, highest near Lake Superior. A strong Clipper system is possible late Thursday into Friday and could bring more snow and a rain/snow mix to the Northland. More snow is possible over the coming weekend.

Trail report 3-5-2026

The Brimson GIA trail is holding decently with some dirt exposed on corners and open areas and seems to be in a grooming sequence on a 5 day rotation.
Yukon GIA trail is in similar condition.
NSST is fairly beat up and is ridable but not smooth unless it was recently groomed.
The daily low temps have been well into the freezing temperatures and the precipitation forecasted for the weekend will be snow in the high terrain. Next week looks to be filled with fairly consistent measurable snow. Off trail snow depths are 22 to 30 inches.

🚨 Trail Update 🚨

VSC volunteers were hard at work today, clearing many trees and assessing the entire Voyageur system.

Good news: We're OPEN for travel! The entire trail system is passable. Keep an eye out for tree debris. It will be completely cleared when the groomer comes through, so please ride with caution.

It was great to see several riders out enjoying the measurable new snow.
Stay safe. Ride on.
