Breaking News!
Salt Patrol has planned an event in La Paz, Mexico, for April 16-20, 2026. We will be hosted at the Marine Waterfront Hotel by the Baja Pirates for prime-time yellowtail fishing, along with many other species.
Like our past events, it will include three days of fishing. The Baja Pirates have boats, and they can also arrange for larger boats if you prefer a cruiser; just talk to Eddie when you call to book. The hotel has a restaurant on the property and a bar. They will come out and ask you at the pool or hot tub if you want anything to eat or drink; it's open until midnight. The hotel has room service and laundry service. The restaurant also has a very large brunch buffet on weekends that's also included in your package.
What's included in the package: Hotel accommodations, fishing, breakfast buffet, lunch and water on the boat, fish processing and freezing, fishing license, airport transfers from La Paz airport, and a Baja Pirates shirt.
Non-fishing activities:
La Paz is a vibrant city with lots to see, beautiful beaches, and many restaurants. Here are just a few of the activities that are available:
Tour beaches (jet skis, boats, food), sand dunes (sandboarding, quads, Can-Am), Todo Santos road trip (galleries, shops, Hotel California), golf course, day pass for certain hotels, spa day (massage, facials, manicure, pedicure), water excursions (sea lion tour, Isla Espiritu Santo tour, snorkeling, scuba diving), and tour the city (art gallery, whale museum, shops, bakeries, restaurants). Restaurant recommendations: El Mezquite Grill (steakhouse), Mariscos El Molinito (seafood), El Zarape (Mexican food), Toro Guero (seafood/Mexican), El Paraje (seafood/Mexican), Los Magueyes (Mexican), El Cayuco (seafood/Mexican), Rancho Viejo (Mexican), and Odayaka (sushi).
The Malecon is a short distance from the hotel, and it's the heart of La Paz, with many restaurants and shopping located along the waterfront. You can walk it in about 15 minutes from the hotel or take a five-minute taxi ride for $5.
I flew from Alaska to Seattle to LA, then to LA Paz (limited flights per week right now); you can also arrange to be picked up at the Cabo airport. It's about a two-hour ride.
Tackle was top quality and provided they have a rather large tackle room with lots of Rods and Reels so if you don’t wanna bring Tackle, you don’t need to.
To book, it's a 10% deposit. Prices start at $1525 per person. Call Baja Pirates at (562) 522-3100.
