Anyone can go on a trip.

I’m heading back to Croatia and sailing the coast by yacht, and while the views were unforgettable the first time, there are two things I missed that are at the top of my list this trip:

💙 Swimming in the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea.
(Honestly, the water was pretty cold last time and I wasn’t feeling it, but I’m going to take the plunge this time!)

🏰 Walking the historic city walls of Dubrovnik. ( We ran out of time last time, but making it a priority this time!)

👉 Sometimes the best part of returning to a destination is experiencing the things you didn’t have time to do the first time.

🇮🇹 Three years ago, I had the incredible opportunity to travel through Italy — exploring Rome, Tuscany, Florence, and the stunning coastline of Cinque Terre. It was a trip I’ll never forget and I’m excited to be headed back to Rome again in two weeks.
🇮🇹 For anyone planning to retrace those same steps today, be aware that things have changed, especially at one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks: the Trevi Fountain.⛲️
🇮🇹 When I visited, you could simply wander up and stand right at the basin’s edge — no planning, no waiting, no cost. That spontaneity is now a thing of the past. Since February 2026, there is a €2 fee to enter the close-up viewing area in front of the water, with ticketed hours running from 9am to 10pm daily. Access is also capped at 400 people at a time, so expect a queue during peak hours.
💵 The fee only applies to the lower basin-level platform directly at the water — the prime spot where visitors traditionally throw their coins and pose for photos. The fountain itself is still visible 24 hours a day from the Piazza di Trevi for free — the square is public space, never closed, never gated.
💵 The paid entry and crowd limits are Rome’s answer to protecting the monument for future generations — and honestly, early visitors say it’s already made the experience calmer and more enjoyable.

I've been spending time planning a trip to the Galápagos for some clients and what most people don't realize is how different expedition cruising is from traditional cruising.

Expedition cruising is for travelers who want to EXPERIENCE a destination — not just see it from a distance.
Instead of giant ports and crowded excursions, think:
*whales beside the ship glaciers cracking nearby
* Zodiac rides to remote beaches
* onboard experts teaching you about the destination.

It's adventure, education, and exploration combined. The ships are much smaller, the experience is more immersive, and every day is focused on exploration, nature, and learning from expert guides.

Throwback Thursday!

Alaska in 2022 was one of those trips that stays with you forever. 🏔️🐋Right after Covid we weren’t cruising, so I planned another way to see Alaska- by train, car, small plane and boat. We did it all!
🐋 We took an amazing whale watching tour with Major Marine boats and saw whales bubble feed, glaciers calve and sea lions in their environment. Then we took the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park to see scenery that almost didn’t look real and topped it off with a plane landing on a glacier! It reminded me why Alaska is such an unforgettable destination.

🐋 🚢 After visiting Alaska multiple times and completing specialized Alaska destination training, I’ve learned that no two Alaska trips are the same. From glaciers and wildlife to cruises and land tours, there are so many ways to experience it — and I’d love to help you plan the one that fits you best.
