Last year on our Endemic Birds of the Atlantic Rainforest Tour we visited the Caverna do Diabo State Park, one of the best places to see the Bare-throated bellbird, the loudest bird of the forest! ✅

This was one of the most exciting moments of our trip to Colombia 🎉🎉
We received a request from a client who wanted to take photos exclusively of Harpy Eagles and luckily we were able to help him achieve his goals. In a town called San Jose del Guaviare, about 1 hour and a half from Bogotá, there is a Harpy Eagle nest with an 11-month-old chick that was very easy to see and take photos of. There was a moment during the visit to the nest when the chick called its parents for a long time, probably because it was hungry, but they did not show up. Perhaps this is a strategy used by the parents to encourage the chick to explore more of the surrounding areas and become more independent and it seems to have worked. The week after our visit, our guide told us that the chick was already practicing flapping its wings more, exploring other trees and moving further and further away from the nest 🦅 👏🏼

Orange-bellied Euphonia
Even when we go to Brazil just to visit family it is impossible not to go birding. I was very lucky to witness a female and male Orange-bellied Euphonia building a nest.
The seduction of the Musician's Wren! It's a little low volume but try to see if you can hear its haunting song.

Seduced by the Musician's wren. See if you can hear it's call.
A priceless moment. We didn't get too close and you shouldn't but we were able to document a little bit of what it's like to be a baby harpy. Hannah and Erik Go Birding Kowa Sporting Optics Jeff Bouton Wild Birds Unlimited Phone Skope
This was a light night bonus and greatly appreciated. Owl lovers rejoice! Our trusty Kowa TSN-55a did a commendable job capturing this guy considering it was pitch black night. Hannah and Erik Go Birding Kowa Sporting Optics Jeff Bouton Wild Birds Unlimited Phone Skope
