Bangor/Derry crossover!

Many of you that have taken our tour learned that The Bradley Gang in the story "IT" is based on the TRUE story of The Brady Gang! An amazing true crime story that happened here in Bangor in October 1937. We're doing a deeper dive and will have a Brady Gang display in the shop by October 12, 1937, the anniversary of the shoot out that happened right here in downtown Bangor. Because we're not creepy. Not at all.

Hi Constant Readers!

Jamie and I are going to take a wee break from our Wednesday FB Lives. We spend so much time at the shop trying to improve the space and the yard that our home property has turned into a blazing dumpster fire. We need to revamp our work/life balance a little bit. Yeah, we don't do much in the winter but it's very hard work cleaning up the yard and gardens when there's 12 inches of snow on the ground...aaand we also wouldn't hate spending time with dear daughter while she's on school break.

Good Sunday morning, Constant Readers! It's going to be a great day in Derr, er, Bangor today! Not too hot and a little overcast. Kinda gloomy makes for great pictures for the guests we will give tours to today!

I woke up this morning thinking of the cameo Stephen had in Maximum Overdrive. Such a good one! What's your favorite Stephen King cameo?

2026 SPRING SCHEDULE NEARLY READY FOR TAKING RESERVATIONS!

We have had some inquiries about our 2026 schedule. We will load the spring schedule now, but we won't load the summer 2026 schedule until the summer 2025 calendar is over. We don't want someone to accidently book something in August 2025 when they really wanted August 2026. Too easy a mistake to make (we think).

Not sure this will reach the people that need to see it but here goes.

We have had a few passengers miss their tour because they didn't plan enough time to drive to Bangor or assumed their flight would arrive on time. We hope this might be a little helpful.

Driving times to Bangor (approximate)

Boston to Bangor 3h29

Portland to Bangor 1h52

Bar Harbor to Bangor 1h12

These driving times assume light traffic, no major construction, and good weather. During the tourist season in Maine, you cannot have all three. There will be a delay somehow. Please plan your drive with some extra time. Perhaps spend the night in Bangor. Have a great dinner, catch a show at the Penobscot Theatre Company, or just chill out!

And please do not plan to fly into Bangor and take your tour on the same day. Flight delays and cancellations are not uncommon – not to mention you may still have to collect your luggage, rent a car, or an Uber…all this eats into the time you probably planned to get to the bus. When making flight reservations if you think you might be cutting it too close, you are.
