It is also an excellent time to see marine iguanas, which become more active as they absorb the sun's heat on the rocks.🦎 In September, these endemic creatures can be found in large groups, offering magnificent opportunities to take photographs and appreciate their adaptations to the marine environment.

On the mainland, blue-footed bo***es continue their nesting season, and can be seen displaying their courtship dances in places such as Española or North Seymour 🕊️. Their movements and the contrast of their vibrant feet against the arid landscape make this an unforgettable experience for visitors interested in birds. 🐦

August is prime time to spot majestic humpback whales in the Galapagos. 🐋🌊

Humpback whales visit the waters of the Galapagos Islands as part of their incredible migration from the icy seas of Antarctica. 🌊🐋 These marine giants travel over 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) to reach the warmer equatorial waters, a journey that can take more than a month depending on the currents and their pace.

During this season, males put on a show - leaping, slapping their flippers, and making waves to impress the females. These dramatic moves aren’t just for show; they’re a way of communicating and a glimpse into their curious, social nature. It’s one of the most exciting wildlife displays of the year!

The best places to see them? Isabela and Fernandina Islands, and for the adventurous, the remote Darwin and Wolf Islands. These nutrient-rich waters attract the whales during the dry season, but sightings can happen all across the archipelago. An unforgettable experience for any nature lover! 🌿🐳

A Great Doctor
By feeding exclusively on fish, octopus and eels near the coast, their health status, reproductive success and behavior reflect the availability of food and thus the quality of the coastal marine ecosystem.

It is very important to make visitors and tour operators aware of the fragility of this species to help avoid disturbance during nesting and reduce negative impacts. In addition to taking care of their ecosystem with good waste control.

A Great Diver 🤿
This species has very strong legs and its webbed feet are well adapted for diving for food. It feeds on eels, small fish and octopus, and hunts in shallow waters no more than 100 meters from its nests.
