You'll then play Royal County Down (consistently ranked one of the top courses in the world) and Ardglass Golf Club before traveling to Portrush for 3 nights in the Golf Links Hotel. Your golf in Portrush includes Royal Portrush Golf Club (host of this year's 153rd Open Championship 🏆), Portstewart Golf Club and Castlerock Golf Club. The next day you'll head south to Dublin for your journey home. It was an absolute treat to experience Ballybunion Old and Cashen this week. It was our first time on Robert Trent Jones’ Cashen course, which is set amongst even taller sand dunes and feels slightly more difficult than the Old despite being over 300 yards shorter. With tighter fairways and smaller greens, there is nothing dull about the new course—it appears very natural and plays as though it has been there forever. Everyone comes here to play the Old, but don’t brush off the Cashen.

As a top 10 course in Ireland, County Louth (Baltray) Golf Club has played host to the Irish Open, Men’s Home Internationals, Vagliano Trophy and Irish Women’s Close. The course was established in 1892, but Tom Simpson and Molly Gourlay designed the present course in 1938. In 2003, Tom Mackenzie made some minor changes to the layout, most notably the addition of new tees which has stretched the course beyond 7,000 yards. It has remained relatively anonymous internationally, but it is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets.
