Haze Hollow: Field Report

I attended to the people of Haze Hollow, located near the heart of the Centralian Region, at Mid-Summer. I was invited by the Coyne Company, a large mining conglomerate in the region, to speak on the dangers of the Co60 Cobalt Cannisters to the local environment. Other concerns of the Co60 Cobalt Cannisters included corruption of the local Mortis Amaranthine, increasing the presence of the Wahel variant within the Mortis. This is a concern for another time, and will be raised at the Council assembly in Early-Autumn.

Additionally, citizens of Haze Hollow were informed of the interruptions on the local Postal Workers since Mid-Spring, with the concerns of the spores within the region. Some letters were found, but the Wells Society requested any additional found missing letters be delivered to the Wells Society posthaste for a return to sender to be arranged. Only one letter was returned by citizens- a letter from a child to a father, seemingly employed by the Coyne Company. Father has already been re-deployed to the Haze Hollow Proper to reconvene with his family.

Another letter was found personally as well. The letter contained what appears to be various code-names and speech patterns seemingly meant to codify language. Their intentions were not clear, but it seems as though they were tracking something down. The target was uncertain, and their method was unclear. Close attention will be given to this organization, and any additional letters which may be found.

This Senator will be present at the Assembly.

The air in Haze Hollow had been thick with the choking dust of mines and spores, but now the grim scent of despair was gone, replaced with the crisp, clean tang of pine and fresh turned earth. High on the ridge, where pines grow sparse and gray,
A silence has dwelled since old world's last day.
Not the peace of the forest, nor the wind's soft sigh,
But the hush of a horror, beneath a stone sky.

They say it was banished, by hands strong and bold,
To the heart of the mountain, a story untold.
A thing of mutation, of flesh rent and torn,
From the ancient, dark earth, on a nightmare's first morn.
Its breath was a sulfur, its eyes twin, red coals,
A blight on the spirit, a stealer of souls.

Through centuries sleeping, it pulsed in the deep,
While mountains eroded, and secrets would keep.
The rivers ran crooked, the old bridges fell,
Each broken piece whispering, a haint's cursed spell.
The timber-framed shacks, with their windows knocked out,
Felt the tremor beneath them, a rustling of doubt.

Now cracks in the bedrock, like veins, start to spread,
A warmth in the hollows, where nothing should tread.
A scent of char rises, through mist, thick and low,
The fire of its anger, beginning to glow.
The hillsides are burning, though no lightning has struck,
And the echoes are screaming, "Its time has come... good luck!"

Coyne Co. Internal Security Memorandum

To: All Coyne Co. Security Contractors and Public Relations officers

From: Grigori Coyne, Company Director of Security

Date: 5-30-5PH

It has come to the attention of the Board of Directors that after last gather's Incident involving the [redacted] and Deliverance Asher; in which many of us were occupied with the assault on the supply caravan, Public Relations representative Deliverance Asher has failed to reappear. This runs in contradiction to information we receive from the locals of Haze Hollow having found and aided them after their emergence.

They are considered to be missing or possibly taken against their will and must be recovered as quickly as possible. It is my recommendation to reach out to locals and travelers passing through the region and inform them of our missing representative.
Otto C. Coyne has signed off on allocating a reward.

Additionally, we are putting out an all-points-bulletin on an individual going by the name Dr. Agri Crawford.

A lone Rover of the Pennsyltucky region wearing a white and black scarf of unknown caravan affiliation often seen wearing a tattered brown coat, heavy pack, bird mask, and carrying digging implements as well as mining equipment.

This individual is responsible for several inconveniences to the company as of late despite previous good relations.
They are a known physician and necrologist and seem to be behaving in an erratic and possibly dangerous manner to themselves and others. They were last seen cutting the fuel lines of one of our cargo vehicles outside of the Haze Hollow outpost mine and where heard raving to themselves. (edited)

"The poison is getting out" as well as "staunch the wound, clean the cut, burn it closed."

As of now we do not believe them to be violent but their recent actions (see below) now require us to escalate our efforts to apprehend and question "Dr. Crawford" and unless deemed necessary we needn't trouble the locals with this matter. If it comes to that the board of directors will allocate resources to put up a bounty for their capture, ALIVE.

-Harassing Mine workers
-destruction of company property and goods
-trespassing on secured company grounds
-theft of company assets
-sabotaging of company mining equipment

Take the utmost care and precaution when approaching either of the two individuals, as they are both likely not in their right state of mind.

As always the Company would like to keep a good relation with our community and ensure the environment we are sharing is kept safe and free of unwanted conflict. As such tread lightly and apply only as much force as is needed, these are after all our neighbors and we needn't breed bad blood.
