Red Chair Travels

Red Chair Travels Red Chair Travels is ... The Red Chair is a symbol, a movement, a phenomenon, a happening. And it is still on the move 4 years later!

Not just a simple wooden chair, this bright red vintage objet is moving from place to beautiful place, exploring the best of New England all this year. Move aside Flat Stanley, lie down garden gnome, hang yourself out to dry traveling pants… the Red Chair has arrived and captured the hearts and minds of America. This humble desk accoutrement, crimson paint peeling and wooden legs wobbling, will jo

urney around New England building connections, meeting innkeepers and generally exploring some of the most beautiful corners of our country. The Red Chair’s story started on Cape Cod, where in the spring of 2012, it visited the finest inns of the Cape. This lucky chair surfed the waves off Nantucket, explored the cranberry bogs of Chatham, enjoyed the view from Nobska Light in Falmouth, watched the grist mill turn at Stony Brook in Brewster and the sun set over Menemsha. After spending 2012 in New England, 2013 & 2014 traveling down the East Coast and across the southern part of the country to arrive to the West Coast where it spent all of 2015 heading north. Now it is 2016 and Red finds itself in international territory visiting British Columbia on its way to our Northern most state, Alaska! This website is devoted to capturing this unique journey in words and photos so be sure to check in every few days as the Red Chair doesn’t stay in any one place too long! It is so fascinating to see what Autumn looks like in different parts of the country. Today we are celebrating fall through the past 6 years. First up we to The Inn at the Round Barn Farm where the Red Chair Travels wandered along the stream in the Mad River Valley.
