We just wrapped up our final Copper River Expedition of 2026. Sunshine, icebergs, and huge views—the Copper did not disappoint! With just one more Arctic trip on the schedule, we cannot believe how quickly this amazing season has flown by. When one thinks of Alaska, snow, ice and mountains may come to mind, but sand dunes? One of the many impressive sights to see on our Copper River expeditions are the Bremner sand dunes. At the confluence of the Bremner and Copper Rivers lies an impressive collection of glacial sand. As the glaciers retreated several thousand years ago, they ground down the rocks below to fine sand. This region provides habitat for many sedges, smaller plants and flowers along with larger mammals and birds. This is always a favorite stop for both guides and guests!
