This note arrived after one of those trips where everything that could go wrong… kind of did. 😩

From illness and needing some assistance with local doctor and pharmacy to lost passports in a cab in London.

We worked through it together — and they didn't have to spend their last days in a city they love dealing with an embassy.

This wonderful couple finished their trip and then a few days later, this completely unexpected surprise showed up in my mailbox.

This is why I do what I do. Not just the beautiful itineraries and the perfect hotels, but the moments when things go sideways and you need someone in your corner who knows exactly what to do.

Not another maybe. Not another "we should just book it." Not another group chat that slowly dies out.

Just a few days in Santorini, where your only decisions are pool or boat ride, nap or massage, and if dinner on the caldera or late night drinks should be the choice today.

It doesn't have to be complicated. It just has to be organized enough to feel easy, and that part is what I do.

So if there's a birthday coming up, a milestone, or no reason at all except that you miss your people, this is your reminder that it doesn't have to stay an idea.

Get the room upgrade. Always. I have never had a couple come back and say they wished they'd saved the money and taken the standard room. Not once.

Go somewhere quieter than you think you want to. The famous destination in peak season is never the answer. The slightly less obvious choice almost always is.

The property matters more than the destination. I have watched couples book a beautiful island and spend the whole trip at a resort that wasn't right for them knowing something was off without being able to name it.

Hey, I don't make the rules. 😉

I just have a very large sample size of clients who come back from a week-long vacation feeling like completely different people.

✨ The one who said she finally understood what rested actually felt like.
✨ The one who came home glowing in a way that had nothing to do with the sun.
✨ The one who went purely to sleep and eat well and came back and got a promotion within a month.

Correlation? Unclear.
Worth investigating? Absolutely.

You plan it yourself and you get there already tired from planning it. Six weeks of tabs, second guessing the hotel, a notes app full of things to figure out when you land.

Or...

I plan it and you get a confirmation email with everything sorted. Right hotel, right room, transfers handled, restaurants worth going to. You show up and it's just right.

It might be the same destination, but it's definitely not the same trip or experience.

✔️ filtered out the “looks good online, but disappointing in person” experiences
✔️ checked age requirements for croissant-making classes
✔️ narrowed down the museums that are actually worth it with kids (and skipped the rest)
✔️ planned your days around how Paris actually flows, not just a map
✔️ built in space so you’re not rushing from reservation to reservation

I have watched couples go to the most beautiful place on earth and have a mediocre anniversary trip because the property was wrong for them.

👎🏻 The beach that looked pristine in every photo and was mostly rocks when they got there.

👎🏻 The suite that was technically a suite but hadn't been renovated since 2009.

👎🏻 The service that felt like a busy hotel rather than the intimate experience they were picturing.

And I have watched couples go somewhere completely unexpected and come home saying it was the best trip of their lives because every single detail of where they stayed was exactly right.

The destination sets the backdrop. The hotel is the actual anniversary experience.

Get the room upgrade. Go somewhere quieter than you think you want to. And let someone who books hotels for a living pick the property.
