Everyone is using the same websites, Reels and ChatGPT to plan Europe right now and listen, I get it. (Yes, even ChatGPT has its place.)

But here's the thing:

➡️ The internet doesn't know what it doesn't know.

AI can give you a beautiful itinerary in seconds. What it can't always give you is the nuance that can make or break that itinerary.

I watched inaccurate information circulate this summer about Italian train strikes. And that's the stuff that matters, because suddenly the “perfect” itinerary you built online has you standing at a train station wondering what the hell you're supposed to do next.

Another recent example?

Someone asked me about starting an Italy trip on August 15 because ChatGPT had suggested August as a good time to visit.

August 15 is Ferragosto, one of Italy's biggest holidays, right in the middle of the country's traditional summer vacation period.

Could you travel then? Absolutely.

Would I blindly build your itinerary around that date without talking through what it means for crowds, closures, transportation and the overall experience?

Absolutely not.

And that's the difference.

Can you use AI to research Europe? Of course. I do too.

But research isn't the same thing as knowing how all the pieces work together in real life.

Your PTO is precious. Your trip is expensive. And I'm not interested in letting you gamble either because an algorithm confidently gave you an answer without the context behind it.

Will your trip be perfect? Nope. Travel never is.

But I'll tell you the truth. I'll know what questions to ask, what details to double-check and what to watch for because Europe isn't something I occasionally Google. It's literally what I do.

So yes, ask ChatGPT for ideas.

Then let someone who actually knows Europe turn those ideas into a trip that works. And when you are ready, schedule time to chat about your trip with me!

As I was putting together the itinerary for my group trip, I was thinking about all those little details that can make the difference between simply visiting a destination and actually feeling *comfortable* while you're there.

For Just Us Italy that meant things like:

👟 Shoes matter.
We're going to walk. There will be cobblestones, little streets and plenty of exploring — so yes, we're going to be cute, but we're also going to be comfortable.

⛵️ We're traveling by land AND water.
Private transfers, ferries, boats and water taxis are all part of this adventure.

🧣 September requires smart packing.
Lake Garda can give us beautiful warm days, but we're also heading into the mountains and evenings can feel different. Layers will be our friend.

Italy isn't meant to be rushed. Dinner may be later than you're used to. Lunch might linger. Sometimes the best part of the day is sitting somewhere beautiful with absolutely nowhere else we need to be.

And yes, these are ALL things I thought about while building this trip, but these are also things I think about when planning client's vacations as well.

How much they're walking. How they're moving luggage. Where their hotels are located. How long transfers take. If they need downtime. Whether an experience is actually worth the logistics required to make it happen.

Those little details matter.

I also think there's something really fun about becoming a little "in the know" before you visit somewhere new.

Understanding how things work. Knowing what to expect. Learning the little cultural differences.

By the time you land, I want you to feel like you've got this.

Now I want to know something about YOU: what's the ONE thing you never travel without?

Mine might be USB vacuum bags for my suitcase, I can get SO much in and it pleases my overpacking heart!

Late September is exactly when I want to be in northern Italy.

September 18–26 is a beautiful little window when Italy still feels like summer, but we're beginning to move away from the intensity of July and August.

On Lake Garda, September typically still brings beautifully comfortable days, historically around the upper 60s into the low 80s, which is exactly what I want when our plans include being out on the lake, exploring the northern lake area, heading up Monte Baldo and lingering over lunch.

Moving on to Venice, we'll be able to wander the canal streets, dress up for dinner, take private water taxis and enjoy gorgeous evenings without planning our trip around the peak heat of summer.

I call it my "Goldilocks window": not too early, not too late… just right.

And that's something I think gets overlooked when planning Europe.

It's not just about WHERE you go.

WHEN you go can completely change how a destination feels.

I chose these dates because they work with the trip I've created.

Could we do this trip in July?

Sure.

Would I want to? Nope.

If I'm inviting you along on my personal Italy wish-list trip, I'm choosing the time of year I actually want to experience it.

But I know September can be hectic for a lot of people and might not be the best time for you to slip away. And that's ok too!

When I say "group trip" most people give me a face. 😬

But please erase whatever image you have of a group trip in your mind because that is absolutely NOT what I built with Just Us Italy.

We're keeping this group intentionally small, just 6-8 women, because I want it to feel more like traveling with a great group of friends than joining a traditional group tour.

Here’s what that actually looks like:
• Really special shared experiences that I've already planned and handled — without scheduling every minute of every day.
• Built-in downtime to wander, shop, sit by the water, take a nap, grab a drink or do whatever YOU feel like doing.
• The big logistics handled for you — hotels, transfers, experiences, reservations and all those moving pieces that usually require 37 tabs and a spreadsheet.
• Me, traveling right alongside you. Not standing at the front holding a clipboard. I'm going on this trip too — and I fully intend to enjoy that boat ride, fabulous dinner and glass of w**e with you. 😉

And here's something else that's important to me:
You don't have to arrive knowing anyone.

Part of what I want Just Us to create is the opportunity to meet other women who are at a similar place in life and are ready for a little more fun, connection and adventure.

Come with a friend. Come by yourself. Be social when you want to be. Take a little time for yourself when you need it.

The point of traveling together isn't to take away your independence.

It's actually the opposite.

I want to take away the WORK of traveling so you have more freedom to enjoy it.

I'm not going to lie... putting together this group trip has been one of the most exciting and challenging things that I've done lately.

One of my biggest goals is finding that sweet spot between incredible, bucket-list experiences AND actually having time to enjoy being there.

I want us to have time for a long lunch, an afternoon by the water, a little shopping, or maybe ordering another Aperol Spritz because… well… we can and it's Europe!

So, here are a few things currently floating around my Just Us possibility list:

✨ Our own private boat: beautiful scenery, drinks, nowhere we need to rush off to next.

✨ An incredible food + w**e experience: the kind that feels less like a “tour” and more like being welcomed into someone’s little corner of the world.

✨ A night worth getting dressed up for: beautiful setting, fabulous dinner, and hopefully WAY too many pictures of all of us actually IN them.

I’m still working my magic behind the scenes and am not ready to tell you all the details quite yet.

I'm hosting my first group trip in 2027!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been researching hotels, experiences, restaurants, logistics (SO many logistics 😂) and all the little details that can take a trip from really good to “OMG, I cannot believe we did that.”

Because THAT is what I want this trip to be.

Not a generic European group tour where we follow someone holding an umbrella from sight to sight.

Think beautiful places, incredible food, a little bit of luxury, time to actually enjoy where we are, and a few special moments thrown in for good measure.

One experience currently on my VERY long possibility list?

✨ A private experience on the water, surrounded by one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe.

That's all you're getting from me. 🤐
