One More Drift Sport Charter

Today I had the privilege of fishing with some boys that I grew up, coaching in youth football!! it’s always great seeing boys grow up into great young men. That’s a bigger reward than anything they could have done in sports.!! a boy are they some great fisherman as well, I shut down the motor to the boat this morning took one cast to show them what we were doing and hooked the fish for the first one then I turned them loose and it was game on from there!!! They managed to catch 42 fish by 8:15 in the morning as we drifted a little over a mile!!! I would like to thank the Daniel boys for booking this trip with me and I hope it’s the first of many to come!! Melanie and Nick you guys have raised some great boys that have turned out to be really great young men!!! These type of trips mean just a little bit more to me than just a fishing trip!!! if anyone is interested in casting and drifting for awesome Lake Erie walleyes I still have some afternoon trips available in Vermillion before I moved the boat to Ashtabula July 13!!!

So I didn’t think the fishing could get any better but once again I may have underestimated the big pond, 38 walleye by 815 and I didn’t even get to throw a cast myself we no sooner turned off the motor, and I lowered the trolley motor because we had no wind and the guys just started putting fish in the boat nonstop till before we knew it we were limited out!!! our biggest was only 24 1/2 inches but we did not have a fish under 17 1/2 inches for a great cooler full of walleye!!! Casting worm harnesses for Lake Erie walleye is probably at its best right now!!! back at it again in the a.m.

So I forgot to post Friday’s trip, but it was through Premiere Metals and it’s a group that I have fished with many of times and they sure didn’t disappoint, 36 walleye hit the deck of One More Drift before 9:30 and we probably had the best cooler average that we’ve had all year long the the biggest being in 26 inches but a lot of fish in the 20 to 21 inch range !!! I keep saying it drifting and casting for these fish is an absolute blast and boy. Is it on fire right now! I still have some afternoon trips available in June in the beginning of July before I move the boat to !! instead of drooling over the pictures I post every day come on out and experience it for yourself

So we decided to give the walleye a little break today but we will be back at it tomorrow!!! my guys were a little hesitant about being out on the lake in 4 to 6 footers! One More Drift would have handled them but wasn’t sure about a few of there stomachs so we gave the “EYES” so sympathy for a day………:::;;;

So what a day it was ,it started on a bad note this morning at 4:30 in the morning when my vehicle broke down on the Ohio Turnpike about 30 miles short of the boat. So I make a call to my clients who drove two hours away to fish this morning that we’re sitting at my dock waiting on me explain to them what was going on and that we could cancel and reschedule or they could come pick me up go to the boat we will go out fishing And then I would worry about my vehicle later.!! so they chose to drive a half hour to me a half hour back to the boat and we proceeded to get out on the lake two hours later than we planned!! Once we got out, we started to drift cut three or four fish on our regular drift, but there was no wind so we were only drifting about 0.8-0.9 mph….. I suggested dropping the trolling motor so that we could get the right speed. They were hesitant at first because of course everybody likes to drift the traditional way!! But once we drop that troll motor and got up to the right speed, it was like the fish started jumping in the boat and by 11 o’clock, 42 fish hit the deck on One More Drift Sport Charter,and boy were they some dandies……..We had two 26” a 25” a few 24” and a bunch of 20 inch for a real nice batch of fish!! So I would like to thank Jerry Rabar and crew for trusting in me and for helping me out in the morning, I’m glad that we got to have the day we got to have and you guys took home some real nice fish, so you know what they say what comes around goes around!!
 so if you are interested in getting in on this phenomenal fishing I did have a cancellation today for this Sunday, June 22 for a morning trip if anybody is interested in filling that date!! that is the only morning trip that I have left in Vermilion before the boat gets moved to Ashtabula July 13!!

So today was just another awesome day on the big pond super good quality fish today nothing under 17 inches had a 28 1/2”,a. 26” ,a couple 24’s and a buch of 20-22” fish!!Had the pleasure of fishing with some good friends from Calvetta Brothers Floor Show ,good fisherman and even better people!! I would like to thank Scott and Lance and look forward to many more fishing adventurers!!

Todays trip was a Premier Metal’s trip, which is one of my biggest clients and always look forward to their trip trips. It just so happens that this group is from the Nelson Parkman area, which is right in my neck of the woods and what a great group of guys to fish with 36 fish in the boat by 10 AM again and a nice quality box of fish!! I still have June 28, which is a Saturday available for morning trips in June and numerous afternoon trips if anybody would like to get in on castle for some great Lake Erie walleye!!

So to get caught up this was Sunday Father’s Day!!!This family books this trip every year except last year the husband had surgery on his leg !! so this year 2 days before there charter there dogs got in a fight and when she tried to break it up, she got bit and broke a bone in her hand but she was a trooper and made the trip and fished all day long without complaining one bit. Needless to say we had our 30 fish by 10 AM. And they booked their trip for next year already !! what a great family to fish with. Look forward to this trip every year.

So what an exciting morning it was. I got a hold of my guys yesterday to let them know that the wind would be out of the east to north east at about 12-15 mph and they said that they were good to go for this morning so we show up and we’re only one of about three charters that even went out but we put 34 of their 36 fish in the boat by 9:30 before we had a few guys who were getting queasy so they decided to come in, but my hats are off to them for still wanting to fish into 4 foot and occasional 5 foot waves!!! needless to say the fishing on the big pond is on 🔥… still have a few openings if anyone is interested in getting out, but they are filling up quick!!!
