American Design Gallery, Inc. was incorporated in 1985 by Garth V. Renner, Architectural Designer. Garth has over 40 years experience in creative custom residential design. Working directly with builders and home buyers has made the name American Design Gallery synonymous with "Parade of Homes Winner". From conception on, each home is carefully planned to build-out with less wasted materials and more usable floor space. Basements are preplanned for future finish, allowing low-cost expansion. By utilizing the latest trends in building technology, such as roof and floor trusses, American Design Gallery has opened up spaces like never before! Roof pitches are held down on the main area of the house for building costs but raised up on front elevations for dramatic curb appeal. Typical features include vaulted ceilings, plant shelves, spacious master bedrooms, covered porches, bay windows, skylights, walk-in closets, whirlpool tubs and island kitchens. American Design Gallery's designs incorporate all the luxury and style of high-end housing in smaller, affordable plans. Open, free-flowing spaces finessed to model home quality provide buyers with excellence in livability and resale. The exteriors, inspired by a modern look at traditional values, are balanced and detailed to stand out beautifully in any neighborhood.

Bi-Level vs. Two-Story: What's the Difference?
They may look similar at first, but bi-level and traditional two-story homes have some important differences in how the space is arranged and how the home functions.

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

At first glance, these two floor plans may look like they have a lot in common.

Both are single-story homes. Both have 3 bedrooms, an open-concept living area, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room and a 2-car garage. And they're both in a similar size range.

But look a little closer…

A well-designed home isn't simply a matter of checking off a list of rooms and finding somewhere to put them.

It's about how those spaces work together.

Where do you enter the home?
How do you move from the garage to the kitchen?
Does the kitchen work with the dining and living spaces?
Are the bedrooms private?
Is there enough storage?
Can you actually furnish the rooms comfortably?
And what about all those little details that make a house function well every day?
One of these plans was created simply by asking for the required rooms.

The other was designed with how people actually live in mind.

So… can you spot the difference?

Look beyond the room labels. Look at the design.

Thinking About Adding Skylights to Your Home?

Skylights can do much more than simply brighten a room. The right skylight can bring natural light into darker spaces, make rooms feel larger and more open, provide ventilation, and even create a beautiful architectural feature.

But there’s more than one type to consider:

Fixed skylights – Designed primarily to bring natural light into your home.

Ventilating skylights – Can be opened to let fresh air in and warm air out, making them especially useful in kitchens and bathrooms.

Sun tunnels – A smaller option that channels daylight through a reflective tube. They’re great for hallways, closets, bathrooms, and other areas where a traditional skylight may not be practical.

Architectural skylights – Larger or custom-designed options that can become a dramatic feature in open-plan living spaces.
Before adding one, it’s important to consider the skylight’s position, the amount of sunlight and heat it will receive, energy efficiency, the roof structure, and proper waterproofing and installation.

When planned alongside your house design, a skylight can become a beautiful and functional part of the home—not simply an afterthought.

Would you add a skylight to your dream home? What room would you put it in?
