The other day we felt bombarded by noise...chainsaws, sirens, barking dogs and more.
I needed to clear my head before going into the office.
So I packed some light snacks and water bottles and headed just 10 minutes out of the city to this beautiful hiking trail with my son.
Feeling the crunch of the dirt beneath my feet and the chirping of the birds did wonders for my mood!
After taking a rest and staring out at the pond, my son says, "ya know Mom, people need to get off their electronics and get outside. The world is the greatest TV." Awe, bestill my heart I thought...he totally gets it!
Not even five minutes later as we were headed back to the truck, did the whining about how steep the hills were and how the bugs were bugging him begin.
Then out of nowhere he screeched at the top of his lungs. I said, "what happened?!!!" He said, " a toad jump on my leg !" I laughed and told him that we need to get out in the woods more, he is too much of a city boy.
His answer, "well I'm sorry mom but I don't like weird amphibians jumping on me. You know some toads can be poisonous!!!" Lesson here folks: 7 year olds can be all Buddha-like in one moment and unravel in the next. They certainly keep you on your toes. Oh, and I guess he did learn something during the amphibian homeschool module 😂 @ Tower Hill Pond
