You can't pray enough to deserve it.
You can't fast enough to qualify for it.
You can't give enough to purchase it.
You can't obey enough to earn it.

That's the scandal—and the beauty—of God's grace.

If salvation could be earned by prayer, fasting, giving, or perfect obedience, then it would no longer be a gift. It would be a wage. But the Gospel proclaims something far greater: what we could never achieve through our own efforts, God accomplished through Jesus Christ.

This does not mean prayer, fasting, generosity, and obedience are unimportant. They have a vital place in the Christian life. But they are not the price we pay to earn God's grace—they are the fruit of a life transformed by His grace.We don't pray to make God love us.
We pray because He first loved us.

We don't obey to purchase salvation.
We obey because salvation has changed us.

We don't give to secure God's acceptance.
We give in gratitude for what Christ has already done.
