🦁 The Kings of the Maasai Mara 🦁

No safari would be complete without seeing lions!

The Maasai Mara is home to some of Africa's most famous lion prides, and we were fortunate enough to see several during our safari.

Our guide, Steve, was fantastic at finding animals throughout the Maasai Mara. In this photo, he stopped to chat with Kenya Wildlife Service park rangers to get tips on recent lion sightings.

The rangers pointed us in the right direction, and thanks to their help, we were able to find lions in several different areas of the reserve.

And yes... their tips paid off. We found lions! 🦁❤️

🐒 Baboons: The Characters of the Safari 🐒

While the lions, elephants, and cheetahs stole the spotlight, the baboons provided plenty of entertainment!

We saw baboons along the way to and from the entrance of the park. They always seemed to be up to something. Whether they were lounging along the roadside, keeping watch from a hilltop, or interacting with one another, they were fascinating to observe.

What surprised me most was how human-like some of their behaviors seemed. They lived in family groups, watched over their young, and always appeared to know exactly what was going on around them.

They may not be part of the Big 5, but they were definitely one of the most memorable animals we encountered in Kenya.

And unlike the monkey that visited my room, these baboons were content to stay outdoors! 😂

🐆 Cheetah Spotting in Kenya 🐆

Known as the fastest land animal on Earth, cheetahs can reach speeds of up to 70 mph. Watching one in the wild was something I'll never forget.

Unlike lions that often spend their days resting, cheetahs always seemed alert and focused, scanning the landscape for their next opportunity.

Seeing one in its natural habitat, surrounded by the vast plains of the Masai Mara, was a true safari highlight. Pictures are great, but nothing compares to seeing these beautiful cats in person.

Every game drive brought something different, and spotting a cheetah was definitely one of those "wow" moments. ❤️

🐒 Who Doesn't Love Monkeys? 🐒

Well... they sure seemed to like me!

When we checked into our room at Simba Lodge, we were warned not to leave the windows open unattended.

Of course, we thought, "How much trouble could that cause?"

A little later, Jay was napping on the couch while I was taking a shower. I came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel and immediately screamed:

**"THERE'S A MONKEY IN MY ROOM!"** 😳🐒

Not only was there a monkey in our room, but he had made himself comfortable on our bed!

My scream startled him, and he jumped to the window ledge while Jay woke up wondering what in the world was happening. Eventually, our unexpected guest was escorted back outside where he belonged.

The best part? Our travel partners thought it was hilarious. Every time something unexpected happened during the rest of the trip, someone would say:

**"So that's what you're calling it?"** 😂

That phrase became one of the running jokes of our Kenya adventure.

Who knew one monkey could create so many memories?

Note: all these monkeys were seen at our lodges except one. We saw VERVET monkey's on safari.

🐒🤣

🇰🇪 My Next Favorite Safari Animal... The Elephants! 🐘❤️

If giraffes and zebras were my first favorites, elephants were a very close second!

There is something amazing about seeing these gentle giants in the wild. Photos don't do them justice. They are enormous, yet so graceful as they move across the landscape.

One of my favorite moments was watching family groups stay together, with the adults always keeping a watchful eye on the younger elephants. It was incredible to see how protective and social they are.

We saw elephants throughout our safari, sometimes close enough to truly appreciate just how massive they are. Every sighting felt special.

The more I watched them, the more I understood why so many people fall in love with elephants while on safari. 🐘❤️

🇰🇪 My Favorite Safari Animals ❤️

Before sharing all of our Kenya adventures day by day, I have to start with my favorites!

There is just something about giraffes and zebras that I absolutely love. 🦒🦓

Seeing them in zoos is one thing, but watching them roam freely across the African landscape was incredible. Everywhere we looked, there were zebras grazing and giraffes gracefully making their way across the plains.

I don't know if it was their beauty, their personalities, or just seeing them in their natural habitat, but they quickly became my favorite animals of the trip.

Over the next several days, I'll be sharing photos and stories from our Kenya safari, including lions, elephants, hippos, cheetahs, and so much more.

But today belongs to the giraffes and zebras. ❤️🦒🦓

Do you have a favorite safari animal?

Sorry, I couldn't post just a few. I love them all!

🦁🐘 Kenya Safari – Day 6 🦒🦓

We were up early for breakfast before heading out on a full-day safari adventure in the Masai Mara. We spent about 11 hours exploring, and every minute was incredible!

The lodge packed us a picnic lunch, and we stopped midday to enjoy it under the shade of a tree right in the reserve.

Throughout the day, we saw so many amazing animals, including:

🐘 Elephants
🦓 Zebras
🦒 Giraffes
🦩 Ostriches
🦛 Hippos
🦁 Lions
🐆 Cheetahs
🐃 African Buffalo
🦌 Waterbucks
🐊 Crocodiles
🕊️ African Cranes
🐗 Warthogs
🐒 Monkeys
🐵 Baboons
🦌 Wildebeest
🐾 Hyenas
🐦 Countless beautiful birds and more!

One of the highlights of the day was when the park rangers led us to a spot where we could safely get an up-close view of a couple of lions. It was such an incredible experience and something I'll never forget!

The animals were everywhere, and many were much closer than I ever imagined. Enjoy all of my photos and videos from this unforgettable day in the Masai Mara!

❤️🇰🇪 It was truly amazing! 🇰🇪❤️
