Things nobody tells you about Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos 🫏🥕
We skipped the cruise ship excursions and did this instead — rented a golf cart from a local vendor, drove the entire island, hit the Grand Turk Lighthouse, and stopped at a local grocery store for a bag of carrots.
Why carrots? Because wild donkeys roam free near the lighthouse and they will absolutely mob you for snacks. No tour guide. No ticket. No crowds. Just one of the most unexpected and unforgettable moments we’ve ever had at a Caribbean cruise port stop.
Here’s the full move:
🛺 Book a local golf cart vendor weeks ahead — half the price of port vendors
🛒 Grab carrots at the grocery store near port
🗼 Drive north toward the Grand Turk Lighthouse
🫏 Let the donkeys find you
🌊 Stay for the views — the reef water up there is unreal
