We had a great basecamp for our new canoeing trip at Rangeley Lake State Park. The folks who attended the trip wanted to learn some new camp cooking skills, so we did several Dutch Oven meals. They were all delicious! We did a pasta bake, veggie pot pie (with bacon 🥓) and a peach dump cake for a dessert. So good! And we found out the leftover peach dump is great in oatmeal AND pancakes!

It’s always good to get a little bit out of your comfort zone and try something new! That’s exactly what we did last week. With the assistance of Far Out Maine, Adventure Bus ran its first canoe trip! Our homebase was Rangeley Lake State Park. We did a variety of paddling on Rangeley Lake, Cupsuptic River, the Magalloway River and Hunter’s Cove. But the trip was about much more than just paddling! We all learned a lot of new skills from tying knots, to bird identification and Dutch oven cooking. Stay tuned for more highlights!

So thankful for a second great week in the Black Hills and Badlands. The weather was a bit tricky, but this group never gave up! Thank you to all for your great attitudes and great company! Can’t wait until our next adventure together!

The weather has been a challenge this week in the Black Hills and Badlands, but this group is making the best of it and we are still getting to see most everything! We head out to the Wildlife Loop and Wind Cave today. Hoping for some bison, prairie dogs, burros and pronghorn sightings today!
