Do you spend your time in the woods? Have you dreamed of earning your Maine Guide license? Here is some help to achieve that. Witt’s End Wilderness will be hosting a Maine Guide Preparatory class in June. This will be a full weekend of learning. You will arrive here on Friday and settle in. Saturday and Sunday will be full days of learning led by Fritz from Finns and Antlers Guide Service. There are only a handful of Guides that offer this service in the state. Fritz is well known to be one of the best at it. His students have a 95% pass rate on their first attempt of testing with the state. We are looking for 4 Veterans or family members of Veterans who would like to attend. We will provide the lodging and meals at no cost. There will be a small list of items you are required to bring with you for the weekend. If your interest is peeked send me a message and I can give you additional information. Fritz will be going over hunting, fishing, and recreational Guide information but we will adapt the class to what specialty everyone is wanting to obtain their license in.

We are extremely honored to be chosen for this grant. It will definitely help us improve our Veteran camp and make it much more user friendly as we prepare the meals for our Veteran guests. The boats in the water. Gear has been gone through and ready to go . Rods are rigged and ready for the morning. What’s your go to lure? This is my old faithful . DB Smelt Lures are my favorite and for the most part all we run. This gold and orange is tried and true and catches every species in the state. Color varies on weather conditions, water temps etc but this is a tried and true color for all conditions

It’s a very busy week with lots of big things happening and some big announcements ahead. I want to start today with a sponsor spotlight.
The Witt’s End Wilderness Veteran side by side is a work in progress that we will add to as we can. A group of Veterans wanted to ensure our guests can stay dry and comfortable when we take them out and worked together to purchase a roof for the machine. I picked it up yesterday and the install will happen soon with pics to follow. This is a big thing. Veterans helping each other out with things whenever they can. Spring trolling is getting close. Who wants to come chase the big salmon? Spring fishing can typically be some of the hottest of the year. Here’s the details on this trip. Arrive at Witt’s End Wilderness Thursday evening. We will fish Deering on Friday and East Grand on Saturday. Departure will be Sunday. Everything is included form lodging, meals, and all fishing gear. If you are currently wearing the uniform or have ever worn it and want to come fish you are who we are looking for. AOR- area of responsibility. My last deployment I was in the CENTCOM AOR. I was a Senior Non Commissioned Officer. I had a supervisor with a stripe above me. He was a great guy. We talked about a lot of different things. One night he asked me if there was anything I wanted to do off duty while there. Every night on my way to work I observed a enormous underground bunker complex with a lot of activity in and out of it. I told him I wanted to get in that bunker. I had no idea what was in it but I knew I wanted in. He asked me “how do we get in there?” I found a building number and eventually a phone number. I had him call it from my office one night. A Col. answered the phone(BIG deal) The Col. asked my supervisor what he wanted. My supervisor replied we want to come see you and tour what’s going on over there. After a lot of paperwork and security clearances we made it in. I was beyond belief. I made it into the CENTCOM headquarters. It was crazy. I was down in the bullpen as the Colonel called it. A true beehive. People scrambling watching huge screens everywhere. This was a live view of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas. Everything is watched with satellites and drones. The clarity is ridiculous. Where am I going with all this? One of the stations I watched was the SERE team leaders. These are the guys that go and get our downed military members. They launch in minutes and are locked and loaded at all times. They are the best in the world. These are the guys you pray will find you. They will give their lives before they leave you behind. Today they are displaying their excellence searching for downed aircrew. I have the upmost respect for our SERE teams 🇺🇸

April has arrived and so has our first side by side payment. This month’s Sponsor Spotlight is shining on Tim and Katie. Time and time again they have blessed us with donations. When we began to put the plans in place for Witt’s End Wilderness back in 2024 they gave us our very first monetary donation to put towards our first event. They have been by our side the whole way. They have been extremely generous with their support including gifting a canoe to us when we needed another and supporting our raffles and fundraising events. They have given us the lift we needed at times by always saying they believe in what we are doing. I haven’t included their last names because they are very genuine people who never want recognition for their good deeds and wouldn’t be happy with me most likely 😂😂 It has always been important to us though to showcase those who make everything possible.
