My name is Bill “Ho**er” Harwell, a lifelong fisherman on many venues, I have embraced two irrefutable facts. The best time to go fishing is when you can, and safety always comes first. I have been fishing Lake Conroe since 1995, professionally since 2009. It’s a great lake with many excellent angling opportunities for a variety of species. Crappie are always at the top of my list. I am deeply dedicated to my pursuit of them and have put forth countless efforts in the context of brush piles, spawning structures, timing, also including attracting techniques and bait catching and other tricks. I am the only guide I know of who fishes at night predominantly and I do so often in my pursuit of Crappie. Turn key full service trips . I supply everything and clean the fish. Afternoon ya'll. It felt good to get back on the water today and as a bonus we got to spend the day with Brian and his nice family Alma, Alex and Jack. We saw a decent bite for a little while this morning at the first area we fished . The crappie bite was subtle , really subtle. This was all new to these folks so its to be expected that they lost some to the learning curve. Only had a few throwbacks. After the first area the bite slowed significantly and it was a grind from there on for the crappie and the snotty's were everywhere. I will say that water temps have already come down some and the front coming is going to help alot . All the traditional fall spots we hit were loaded with fish it was just a tough bite. Seeing what I saw today left me feeling quite optimistic about the fall season . Around 1:30 ish we decided to hit one more area. By then we only had a couple handfuls of bait left the and boys were looking a little tuckered . That's when we had an issue. The starter started acting up . After pulling the cowling and checking a few things we got it started with a little redneck engineering lol . Used a hammer to arc across the grounds and it spun right over . Lmao. I think the internal ground fried . We decided better to just head on in rather to push our luck to use up around 20 minnows . They were quite gracious about the whole snafu. Throughout the day we had some laughs caught some fish and had some great Q&A as well as great conversation sharing stories. Super duper nice folks , easy keepers I'm telling ya. Thanks guys for a great time! If ya'll decide to come out again I'll make up for the lost time to make that right and thanks for ya'lls candor about the matter. We really enjoyed having ya'll aboard !

When I got up this morning it was raining. Looked at the radar. The only place it was raining for 50 miles or more in any direction was right on top of me . I hope that doesn't set the tone for today !! 😂.

Morning ya'll. Well I guess I just have bad timing atm . In the last 2 weeks I've had numerous messages about when the next open boat would be and now that I offer a couple no response. I even reached out to a handful of my regulars and everyone is busy. All part of the game I reckon. In the meantime I've been working on getting the bathroom finished up. Got it painted and got the tile sealed . I have a bit of touch up to do on the paint still and to caulk the shower before I start on tiling the floor. Also have a couple pieces of trim to cut , stain / polyurethane. I think the shower came out pretty good 👍. I almost went fishing today because I'd really like to but I have private charter tomorrow so I'll get my chance to scratch that itch lol. Today I'll work on touch up , hang light fixtures and a few other things to make some more progress. I feel it's best use of my time and resources atm . I'd really like to get this done and out of my way . Supposedly getting a pretty good front this weekend . Enough of one to start dropping water temps . Looking forward to that ! . Should be a nice morning with good activity and off the water before any rain chances. Cant catch em from the couch.

No takers for open boat today. Disappointing but is what it is. Had a bunch of messages and calls last week about next open boat but I reckon my timing was off for folks dang nice morning too . It's usually not very hard to get at least 3 people. Still hosting one tues.

Morning ya'll. Well it looks like Monday is off the table for open boat due to conflicts in doc appointment schedule. I think instead I'll make a bait run today after my doc appointment to be able to host one sun morning and Tues morning if anyone is interested. 7 am both days . 130 per person 30 dollar deposit to reserve a spot. 6 spots available on each trip. I supply everything and clean the fish. Around 5 hrs on the water . Targeting crappie and a mixed bag is likely. Cant catch em from the couch guys ! Hit me up if interested.

As I suspected on the livewells one pump burned up / froze up which in turn overheated the switch and burned it up. All fixed now and functioning like it should. Talked with my bait supplier. He has changed his supplier because of numerous problems he's been having with them like getting shorted on orders and bait that not in the greatest condition for some time now . He says he has the best bait he's had in quite awhile now . Evidently from the oldest longest running hatchery . That's great news. Neither one of us gets paid back for deadloss and its driven both our costs up for awhile . I'm shooting for Monday / Tuesday mornings for open boats 7 am . Solunar activity is forecast for high activity throughout the morning. I will confirm this afternoon and announce one or both days for anyone interested. Me and buzz are going to clean tanks and get all that ready for a new batch that I'll fetch this weekend then on to finish painting. Just a little update . Catch ya'll later....

Alrighty then . I'm home. Tomorrow I have to get this wound vac checked out . I have an appointment for that tomorrow ...

Alrighty then . I'm home. Tomorrow I have to get this wound vac checked out . I have an appointment for that tomorrow afternoon. I will get tanks cleaned and livewell fixed on the SLABILLAC in the morning. I will get a fresh bait supply over the weekend. I have a couple of private charters next week but will likely offer open boats as well next week. For a bit I will have to have the incision dressing changed on the wound vac a few times a week. No stitches this time . Open incision with special dressing. As soon as I get that schedule figured out on wound care we will fish around it. I'll have that information tomorrow afternoon. I know some think I should rest but I have zero choice but to hit the ground running and get back to work. I've spent the last 6 days on my back and have had enough rest. I'm not trying to be a tough guy just doing what I gotta do . Mrs Ho**er and buzz have almost half the bathroom painted in the last couple days . I have to get that project finished so I'll be able to shower. Cant take a bath at all for at least a couple months. I will update ya'll on the open boat schedule probably Friday. Its supposed to be a little cooler finally time to start getting back after those crappie and start making some pics again guys. My meds are ready for pickup so gotta go. I had an infection go septic. Came on quickly too. Even though I did try to get ahead of it. Anyway , still in hospital atm. Hopefully going home tomorrow. Just basically waiting on surgeons decisions on wound care concerning my incision. I've got some fishing scheduled and cant get outta here fast enough.
