day and night crappie trips available. we'll never sell you a crappie trip and go catfishing! My name is Bill β€œHo**er” Harwell, a lifelong fisherman on many venues, I have embraced two irrefutable facts. The best time to go fishing is when you can, and safety always comes first. I have been fishing Lake Conroe since 1995, professionally since 2009. It’s a great lake with many excellent angling op

portunities for a variety of species. Crappie are always at the top of my list. I am deeply dedicated to my pursuit of them and have put forth countless efforts in the context of brush piles, spawning structures, timing, also including attracting techniques and bait catching and other tricks. I am the only guide I know of who fishes at night predominantly and I do so often in my pursuit of Crappie. Turn key full service trips . I supply everything and clean the fish. Solid equipment , custom built boats, organized and professional. I offer a variety of trips and services from serious fishing to parties and picnics. Discounts for public service and birthdays.

These two are always a great time! Matt and Brandon are repeat customers that love to talk smack and cut up . My side still hurts 🀣. At our 4 hr mark with 24 crappie in the box plus some bonuses they decided to stay a couple more hrs . So we kept fishing ended up boxing 35 crappie with some more bonuses. If it fried it died with these guys . Threw back 7 or 8 shorts . They lost some to the learning curve early on. I'm not sure just how many they lost to the Corona curve......🀣 . Really doesn't matter its was a great time! Thanks again guys! Oh I almost forgot, Crappie birthday Matt!

I've been tinkering and testing those overheads every morning and I'm pretty sure I've found the problem. Its the receptacle that holds the plug for the charger. Its an older style one that's on it and I'm pretty sure its coming loose sometimes so the batteries aren't getting charged. I am going to replace the batteries and I'm going to upgrade the plug as well to this one . The TM batteries I replaced I've been tinkering with too. It was only one of the three that went bad . The other two I desulfated, checked fluid and slow charged . They test just fine on load test and are just a little over a year old . I'm going to reuse them in 12v configuration along with two brand new ones . I have one new on the bench and I'll get one more . Those overheads with the 4 battery configuration have always lasted all night and then some easily when fully charged. Right now at full charge I'm getting 5-6 hrs max at full load because those batteries are close to 4 yrs old and they're losing their ginger . Night fishing is fixing to come back into play and this system is an important integral part of that . Just a little update. Got chores to do for today's trip so catch ya'll later. Have a great day everyone πŸ˜€

Day two with Mando and his other group. Tommy ,Ashley, James, Roderick and Robert . Another super fun group of nice folks ! First let me say that as tough as things were at times on me yesterday its kinda hard to call it work sometimes when you're laughing all day . Yes , I'm a little late posting but Mando had a long drive back home and I waited until he could text me everyone's names to post . I frickin suck at remembering names alot of the time ! πŸ™ƒ . Frickin fishing guides , not a one born that wasn't a special ed case . Lol. Honestly yesterday was tough at times but when the crappie fishing gets hard I fish harder for them not just go catfishing. We adjusted our departure time yesterday a bit to try and compensate for the lull we saw the day before . Started out catching instantly and that lasted a while but then ...... over many spots loaded with fish it was just one here and there. The wind just plain sucked at times. I was a bit worried that I'd fail these nice folks with relatively few in the box but kept that to myself and just told em " I'm trying guys lets just keep at it " . Close to the end of our scheduled time to go I took us to a spot more out of the wind , truthfully kind of a Hail Mary kinda of move as I hadn't hit that spot in over a week and wasn't sure of what we'd find and BAM! Paydirt! . Slinging em in left and right! Some gooduns too. When time came we were supposed to go I just couldn't pull the rug out from underneath them while they were all catching, smiling, obviously enjoying themselves . We left that spot when the fish got spooky and hit another real close by and BAM ! We had fished a little over an hour over time when Ashley asked when we were going in . She had to use the restroom and everyone else said they were ready to go as well so we came in . We had some throwbacks and had some shake off . Really light bite again . Both Mando's groups were all folks who served our country and we thanked them for their service/ sacrifices best we could and in our own way . πŸ˜‰. It's the least we could do . I was relieved when they all told us they'd enjoyed themselves . Thanks again for trusting us guys! We really enjoyed having ya'll aboard!

I've personally never done fish in the air fryer but that looks purdy damn good! When I fry its usually shortening sometimes oil but I have a baked recipe that's excellent that I tell folks about when they ask me how I cook em , usually while cleaning fish . Chet sent me this pic yesterday evening. Nice job! Looks yummy πŸ˜‹!

Really fun buch of fellers this morning that like to talk some smack! 🀣 my side still hurts ! . Chet , Tim ,Gregg, Ruben, Mando and Tyler are a riot! Chet has been out with us a couple times but the rest are new to this style and approach to fishing. It was tougher out there this morning. I had expected some small changes but the changes were quite dramatic overall from one day to the next . The crappie bite wasn't near as aggressive, they ran later on the tables than predicted and the faster part of the bite didn't last as long. Undoubtedly IMO it was all about the barometer and the changes in the weather. Bit windier today as well. That part really didn't affect us as much as it could have though. We lost quite a few to the learning curve early on getting em figured out. Had to let em eat today ! Easy to move too soon on em ! Threw back some short crappie but otherwise if it fried it died. Managed a good box on our 4 hr once we got dialed in better . This is day one of two with a couple groups Mando has put together . Thanks again for a great time guys! Ya'll are easy keepers and we really enjoyed having ya'll aboard πŸ˜€

Well crap . Overheads giving me trouble again this morning. After my trip today I've gotta make a bait run and there's not enough time to get bait and fix them because I still gotta get batteries probably a charger too. Ugh. I'm going to reschedule the early am trip I had for tomorrow morning , run the daytime trip then get the overheads fixed. I dont want to take the chance of a do over . Fuel is too expensive right now for that . Its always something! Just FYI I do have some availability next week there's some really good spikes early am as well as daytime. I might offer open boats mon and Tues. We'll see how it goes I'll announce those likely Friday if they're going to happen .

Gotta keep this one short , still a lot to do today. Had a fun crew on this mornings open boat! Ya'll have seen Ole Billy many times but Alton, Richard, Dodi and David are all new customers who said they'd be back . We honestly saw the best of our crappie fishing in the first couple hrs but caught fish the whole time between several areas. Boxed a pretty good mixed bag . Had some shorts that had to go back and had some shake off. Missed some . Overall, a great time with some real nice folks . Catch ya'll next time!

Martha decided to just have her grandson Jesse in the pic today. They came out on a 4 hr this morning and we were luck to be done just about the time it started raining lol. Super nice mellow folks enjoying a morning on the water together catching some fish. Put a good box together. Lost some threw some back . Great meeting ya'll! We really enjoyed having ya'll aboard this morning!

As much as I'd like to be out fishing this morning it did feel kinda good to sleep in πŸ˜†. I'm going to make a bait run and handle a couple things at the house today I reckon . I've got a private charter in the morning. Does anyone want to do open boat mon morning? Cant catch em from the couch guys!

These folks didn't hire a catfisherman and hear or post that they didn't get the crappie they wanted or hear excuses why they went catfishing on a crappie trip . There's a difference now and has always been. Do your homework hire a professional, a real crappie guide. Not just one that jumped on the Garmin truck to guiding look at the history. Its always been up to you . That won't change . We never paid a dime to be first page on Google for being THE Lake Conroe Crappie - Ho**er Harwell's Guide Service got there the good ole fashioned way.........

Had a great crew on this mornings open boat ! All new customers that told us they'd be returning for sure ! In fact , Lupe wants to bring his whole family. Steve, Issac, Paul and Lupe like to talk a little smack which always makes things fun 🀣. We hit a few different areas, caught fish everywhere we went. Put fish in the box within minutes of our first drop . Had some throwbacks and had quite a few shake off on us , some right at the top. Had a few run back into the cover , tangle and break off as well. Most were biting pretty light this morning and ya had to take your time with them or they wouldn't have it good enough to sting em . All part of the game and learning curve some days. We went through a few periods of pretty fast action as well as some more slow steady times . These guys fished hard , rolled with the punches and managed to put a box together . All in all , this being new to them I feel they did well! A fun morning with some cool 😎 cats ! Ya'll did a great job! Thanks for coming out today! Catch ya'll next time guys!
