Tater Hill Terrariums

Tater Hill Terrariums Tater Hill Terrariums are made by Porter Kobernik on Potato Hill in Wi******er, Va. Terrariums are lil glass gardens, combining art and nature.

I use both vintage and new glass containers, each one being unique. Tater Hill Terrariums are made using moss from around Wi******er, found in parking lots, on tree stumps, brick walls, locals' gardens, backyards, sidewalks, and the list goes on. My live terrariums need little care...just a lil sunlight and a misting of water about once a month. They can bring a lil character, a lil curiosity to a

ny room. The wearable terrariums are made using preserved moss, so no care is needed...simply enjoy! To purchase a Tater Hill Terrarium or for more information contact me directly or visit the Handworks Gallery in Downtown Wi******er.

Did you acquire a terrarium recently??? Here are some care tips!!!

Caring for Your Terrarium:

Light - All mosses need filtered or artificial light, but never direct sunlight. A cool, shady spot is best!

Water – Lightly mist your garden about once a month, depending on the amount of sunlight it receives. The moss should feel damp, but never soggy. It is safer for it to have too little water, rather than too much. Let your jar breathe a little after each watering. ***During the dry, winter months, I sometimes water mine every two weeks!

Condensation is normal, but consistent condensation may be a warning sign: either the terrarium is getting too much water or too much sun. If the moss feels dry and there’s a lot of condensation, give the moss a misting of water, leave the lid off for an hour or two, and move the jar to a shadier, cooler spot.

All objects in your terrarium are water-proof – even they enjoy a light rain!
