Sunshine, warm water, and a lazy river that makes it way too easy to lose track of time. ☀️💦

Who else could use a little pool and sun time right about now?

The apothecary was a cool stop during our visit to Colonial Williamsburg.

Walking through the shelves filled with medicines, remedies, and tools from the 1700s gave us a glimpse into what healthcare looked like long before modern pharmacies existed.

One of the things that makes Williamsburg so unique is that you can step inside dozens of colonial shops and learn about the trades that helped shape early America. From apothecaries and blacksmiths to printers and carpenters, each stop tells a different part of the story.

It turns history into something you can actually see, hear, and experience as a family.

Have you heard about the new Universal Kids Resort in Texas?

The brand new park opens July 1 in Frisco, Texas, and tickets, hotel packages, and annual passes are now available.

What makes this park unique is that it was designed specifically for families with younger children. The themed areas are inspired by favorites like Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, Trolls, Jurassic World, Puss in Boots, and Gabby's Dollhouse, with family friendly rides, character experiences, interactive play areas, and plenty of opportunities for kids to explore.

As a parent, I love seeing more vacation options created with younger kids in mind. Not every family is ready for a giant theme park vacation, and this looks like a fun way to experience the magic of a themed destination on a smaller scale.

Would you plan a trip to Texas just to visit Universal Kids Resort, or would you add it to a larger family vacation?

Tell me what you think in the comments!

Take the Trip

One thing I’ve realized as a parent is that kids usually remember the experiences more than the stuff.

When I think back on my own childhood, I remember family trips to places like Palm Coast and visiting family in Houston. They weren’t extravagant vacations, but they were consistent memories we made together every year.

Did we go to Disney and Universal sometimes? Absolutely. Those trips were special too. But I don’t think family memories are only built on the “big” vacations.

There have been seasons with our own kids where time and money were tight while raising young children and building a business. Sometimes our trips looked more like a quick Orlando hotel stay, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, and an afternoon at the pool.

And honestly? Those memories matter too.
I think what children remember most is simply being together. The laughter, the late nights in a hotel room, the road trips, the pool days, and the break from normal life for a little while.

Not every vacation has to be grand to be meaningful.
Sometimes you just need to take the trip.

Summertime is here, and for so many of us this season brings back memories of childhood, family vacations, road trips, pool days, late nights with friends, and all the little moments that made summer feel special.

I always love this time of year because it gives me a chance to think back on some of my favorite memories with family, along with all the fun experiences I had growing up during summer break.

From beach trips and theme parks to camping, backyard cookouts, or simple evenings catching fireflies, those memories tend to stay with us forever.

What are some of your favorite summer memories? I’d love to hear them. 💛
