Fish are moving up the Willamette River, and the spring run is starting to show life across both the lower and upper systems. In this report, we take a look at the latest fish counts, what’s crossing Willamette Falls, and how those numbers are shaping fishing opportunities throughout the river system.

From the lower Willamette to the upper tributaries, including the Santiam, McKenzie, and Middle Fork Willamette, salmon and steelhead movement is picking up as water conditions change and more fish push upriver. We’ll talk about where the fish are headed, what anglers are seeing, and what this could mean for spring Chinook and summer steelhead fishing in the days ahead.

Don’t forget to check current regulations, river conditions, and updated fish counts before heading out.
