It’s that time of year! The silvers are coming into our coastal river systems and we are welcoming sports fishermen back to our home here in Yakutat!
If you’re coming to Yakutat to sports fish remember that sports fishing means you’re fishing for fun! And it is so much fun when you’ve got a big silver on the end of your line.
A few things to remember before you head out sports fishing —
*Don’t to take more fish back home than you’ll eat in 6-12 months (that’s called want and waste and it’s illegal). *Don’t take fish home to sell to pay for your trip (that’s illegal). Did you know you can’t even barter or trade a sport caught fish?
*Don’t put on a big treble hook with the intention to snag because the fish aren’t biting but you still want your limit for the day. (It’s illegal to keep a snagged fish)
*Try not to clean your fish where everyone’s fishing… take fish waste all the way to the ocean. You’re about to make a bear problem.
*please take your trash out with you when you go.
Yakutat is an incredibly beautiful and diverse part of the lost coast of Alaska. Know for its world class fishing, ocean, beaches, and mountains for days. We love sharing our favorite place on the planet with you guys!
We share these as a reminder to everyone coming to our beautiful home to help us all preserve this place well beyond our lifetime.
And don’t forget to look up once in a while, it’s beautiful here.
