Downtown York never disappoints when it comes to a good foodie adventure! My friend and I decided to make a night of it by hopping around for appetizers and drinks instead of committing to just one spot — because why choose when you can snack your way through the city?
First stop: Bloom Kitchen & Bar for cocktails and their Confit Octopus. Absolute perfection. Tender, flavorful, and honestly deserving of its own standing ovation.
Next, we rolled over to Iron Horse York for shrimp tacos and their Caramel Crunch cake… and let’s just say those plates were cleared so fast they barely had time to cool down.

London, you’ve been an absolute delight. We ate and drank our way across the city—hopping from rooftop to rooftop, chasing skyline views and a little bit of magic at every stop. In between, we wandered through history on a walking tour, settled into a proper English pub, and checked off the classics—Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and, of course, mastering the Tube like locals (more or less). We even saw a bit of the London Marathon!

There’s truly no shortage of things to do—or eat. And yes, the full English breakfast does come with baked beans… a detail I fully embraced in the name of cultural exploration. Because no matter where I go, one rule stands: eat what the locals eat.

Eating our way through Amsterdam… we kicked things off in the airport lounge with drinks and a fresh salad before diving into the rhythm of the city—canals, culture, and a surprising amount of sport woven into everyday life.

Lunch took us to Alexander Beach Club along the North Sea—absolutely worth the stop—where we soaked in the views and embraced the local palate with Hollandse Nieuwe. A true Dutch experience.

Somewhere between indulgent and slightly outrageous, we also managed to order what might be the most expensive water at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam—but when in Rome… or, in this case, Amsterdam.

I’ve always believed that when you’re away from home, you follow the locals—go where they go, eat what they eat, and let the place reveal itself to you one bite at a time.

On a beautiful, sun-soaked Saturday, our food tour unfolded like something out of a postcard—warm light spilling across downtown as guests strolled from stop to stop, soaking in both flavor and history. Along the way, they indulged in a thoughtfully curated wine, cheese, and dessert pairing that felt equal parts elegant and indulgent, followed by crowd-pleasers like mini cheesesteaks, perfectly crisp brick oven pizza, rich red curry crab, and silky panna cotta. Between bites, the stories of downtown York came alive—revealing its pivotal role in shaping our nation, from its days as a temporary capital to the echoes of resilience and innovation that still line its streets. It was a day where every step held a story and every bite told one too.
