Im in the Old Senate Chamber, used by the U.S. Senate from 1810 to 1859.

* It was the scene of fierce debates over slavery and states’ rights.
* Famous senators included Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and John C. Calhoun.
* In 1856, Congressman Preston Brooks brutally attacked Senator Charles Sumner here after an antislavery speech.
* When the Senate moved to its larger chamber in 1859, the Supreme Court used this room until 1935.
* The room has been carefully restored to resemble how it looked in the mid-1800s. 🇺🇸
